BEV to Dish?

Hello, all!

I have a BEV 2700 system with a 24 inch dish and a single TV, and I'm thinking about switching to Dish. I've successfully installed my BEV in 3 different locations, and a DirecTV elliptical dish for a roommate, so I would enjoy and prefer installing the system myself, using as much of my existing equipment as possible. (I also live in an apartment, and it's a LOT easier for me to work with my landlord directly than to deal with an installer.)

So from what I've read, it seems like I can use the same dish and RG-6 cabling I have in place, but I'll need to get a DishPro 311 receiver and a new LNBF to capture 119 and 110 satellite signals.

My questions:

1) Does the above sound right? If not, what should I do differently?

2) From where can I buy a receiver and LNBF? Dish wants to lease me equipment and have it professionally installed, which isn't acceptable to me.

Thanks a bunch!

DishStore, Sadoun, and others will be happy to sell you want you want. See the sponsor links at the top of the page. Depending on the lnb, a new receiver may be all you need if you just need the programming from 119. Have you tried repointing your dish to 119 to see if your BEV receiver notes the sat? If so, try a E* receiver with the BEV dish and lnb. If you want programming from both 119 and 110 or HD, you'll need different lnbs or dishes and receiver.

I had checked out Dishstore already, but not Sadoun until now. Both are great -- thanks!

My BEV receiver does note the 119 satellite. I guess you've hit on the main questions I was asking -- if I can use my existing LNB with a Dishpro receiver, or (if I have to get a different LNB anyway), can I snag both 119 and 110 using my existing 24 inch dish. From what I can tell from the Lyngsat charts (always a fantastic resource!), I would be able to get pretty much all of Dish Family on 119 though. No HD necessary, so that's not an issue for me.

Edit: Well, I just went through the Lyngsat channel list a bit more thoroughly...looks like I'll have to get a Twin, since the Dish Family channels are split nearly evenly between 110 and 119...oh well. :(

Does your 24" dish have skew adjustments? It might make it a little difficult to pull in both 110 and 119 if you couldn't skew the dish?

No skew, but I'm hoping that the 24" size (rather than the 20" Dish500) size will make up for the 15 degree azimuth difference between 119 and 110 if I just go ahead and set it for the azimuth that splits the difference (as I would if I had skew). There's only a 1 degree elevation difference between 119 and 110 settings, so that's not likely to be a problem.

The focus will be so far off you'll be lucky to get any signal on a single focus dish (presumption) used for two lnb's.

You need a Dish 500 for 110/119.

Hade a great install today

Strange box at door today.
