Hi,

I have question about connecting my sat correctly. I have 2 sd receivers and 2 HD receivers. I just bought the second HD receiver for christmas. My problem how to connect my second HD receiver correctly.

My setup is the following right now: 1 3X8 switch: the two 91 cables from the dish connect in this one. The two SD receiver connect in the 3X8 switch.

For the HD receivers the bell installer got 1 cable from 82 and connected it to a SW21 and connected my 3X8 swith to the other port on the SW21. The sw21 then connect directly to the HD receivers.

What can i do to connet 2 HD receivers ?

I'm pretty sure i need to run another cable for 82.. if i use 2 sw21 before connection to the 3X8 will it work ?

Thanks,
Daniel

You need a SW44. Both lines from 91 and both lines from 82 go into this and then you'll have outputs for 4 receivers. The way you have it now is unconventional, to say the least. Your other option would be a Dish Pro Plus dual LNB with 2 splitters. Then you would only have to run 2 cables into the house. Your first step is to get rid of that 3X8 switch.

And if in the future, i want to add another receiver ? Am i stuck with this setup ? Isn't there a way to salvage the setup i have ? it's been installed by a Bell Technician... what a mess !

You are best to do what Frank told you. Either use a SW44 or change to DP/DPP equipment where you would be best to use a DPP44 switch and DP or DPP LNBs (both will work with a DPP44 switch).

No, you cannot salvage that atrocity. If you want to add another receiver there are switches, such as the SW44A that can be added. But your current setup will not work at all with 4 receivers, and especially not with both satellites. If Bell installed that mess, call them and have them send out a tech to install it properly. they will install a SW44, as they do not support the Dish Pro Plus lnb's.

Whilst the setup you have now is indeed non-standard, I would suggest running a second line from the 82 LNBF and using a second SW21. Just copy the existing feed for your HD receiver.

That will be the cheapest way to get you up and running.

Whilst I agree that an SW44 would be ideal, the way it is now will work just fine.

Also be aware that the other options mentioned, SW44a and Dish Pro/Dish Pro Plus are NOT supported by Bell TV and if you have a problem in the future you will find that these non approved parts will not be replaced.

So if i understand right a juste get the second line from my 82 LNB, connect it in the new sw21 and get a cable from my existing 91 cable and connect it also in the new sw21. (About the same setup as i have for my hd receiver) ?
