Greetings All,

My parents are searching for a new tv, and after speaking with my father about all the different options, he wants to get a good tv, looking to spend up to $1500.00. Due to requirements of my mother, this will be in an entertainment center so it needs a stand, and must fit in a space of 50x60 max. Obviously we want to future proof this as much as possible, and make sure that this will last. Realibility or at least one with a good warranty is a must.

I am sure this is a point of much debate as to what is best, but I really need some help here. I want to make sure that I do not steer my parents wrong and that they will be happy with this purchase for more than just the next 6 months.

Help me Satellite Guys, your my only hope!

Mia

I suggest that you look at RPTVs such as the JVC DiLA series. This is the best bang for the buck, if you don't mind a TV sitting on something rather than hanging on the wall. They can be 12"-18" deep, roughly. You can get 50"-56" 1080p for that price, possibly 61" in a 720p version. Look at stores such as Costco, BJs and Sam's.

I have 2 DLPS 1 DILA and 1 plasma ----- No question that the plasma is worlds above and beyond the DLPS (DILA) etc.....

check out the 50" Samsung 5054 plasma 720p---- just dropped $300 to $1299 on VANNS with free shipping.

720p TVs are slowing phasing out and are at an outstanding price. Don't be fooled by 1080p. Yea it's nice but to the "normal" human being, you will never notice the difference....

Our Best Buy did a test with the PS3 with Superman 3 in Blue Ray... Side by side with same settings, The 720p plasma looked identical to the 1080p... I saw in person and checked the settings to verify.

You probably wont find an LCD in the 50-60" range in 720p so you will pay a bunch!!!
Good luck
