I just checked antennaweb.org and it appears that I'm lucky enough to live "in the shadow" of my local broadcast towers... all but one are within 8 miles or less with a 50 degree arc.... I've heard that the "clip on" antennas are junk, so what is an easy solution? Would one of the small round multidirectional antennas work? I like them, but they don't offer any FM and I wouldn't mind hooking an antenna up to the stereo while I'm at it, so if there is one that will serve both jobs, I'd be interested.
Thanks all! :) :)

Elevation is the #1 key ingredient to ensure reliable ATSC reception. Second is to get a antenna that sees a very narrow footprint so it won't pick up reflected signals and of course, point it accurately to your broadcast tower.

I think the SS1000 SquareShooter (cost $89.99) would be your best choice.

Hmmm.... that's some great info to chew on...Thanks all.... I just picked up a phillips version of the silver sensor from a local retailer to use while I plan for the outdoor job. ("Just couldn't wait could you?" ~ quote from my wife) Believe it or not, it's working out pretty well considering it's inside my house. Every once in a while I get a little dropout that looks like rain fade from my satellite reciever, but other than that it's rock solid! Thanks for the help though... Robert, when I get my ducks in a row and figure out the whole outdoor antenna issue, i'll give you guys a call!
