I was actually listening to this on the way back from Florida. I caught about from #17 on. Some classic songs from the 80's.

I'd have to agree with some:

You're the best around - karate Kid (I also watched the movie JUST for this part)
Don't you (forget about me) - Breakfast Club
Who Wants to Live Forever / Princes of the Universe - Highlander
Danger Zone - Top Gun
Time of my Life - Dirty Dancing

Here are some of mine...

Axel F Theme - Harold Faltermeyer from Beverly Hills Cop

Ok I am on an 80's music kick now...

Not from a movie, bu a true video from the 80's (and also the very first time I have seen the english version of this song... MTV only played the German version of this video on MTV as the English version was over 8 minutes long) :)

Ok back on soundtracks...

Here is Murry Head with One Night in Bangcock from the Chess Soundtrack. (BTW the chorus for this song was written by Benny from ABBA. :)

For some reason in 1983 people thought it was cool to dance around in your house in your underware. This movie is the reason why, from the movie Risky Business here is Detroit Rocker Bob Seger with Old Time Rock and Roll

Besides dancing in your underware we were shown it was ok to be bad in the 80's. We were so bad that we had to serve detention in this hit from the smash hit movie "The Breakfast Club" here is Simple Minds with "Don't you forget about me"

Speaking of being bad there was no one badder then the Blue Brothers who still are on my own record books for best car chase in a movie ever. I still find it hard to believe that the city of Chicago would close down all these streets just so they could smash up all of these police cars. Not a big movie hit song, but if you saw the movie yoou would be singing Rawhide for days, here is the Jae and Elwood from the Movie "The Blues Brothers" with Rawhide.

Another great 80 movie masterpeace has to be this one from John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. From the movie Eddie and The Cruisers here is "The Dark Side"

Now another smash hit movie song from the 80's and this one had people everywhere asking the same question, "who are you gonna call?"

Here is Ray Perker Junior with the theme to Ghostbusters.

One of the 80's most memorable movie lines to me was "your mamas a snowblower!" uttered from the metal lips of Johnny 5 from the funny hit movie "Short Circuit" from El DeBarge

This song helped a famous group from the 60's stars in the 80's from the movie "Cocktail" here are the Beach Boys with Kokomo

A trip back to the 80's Movie hits would not be complete without a trip on the schoolbus with Principal Rooney, from the smash hit Ferris Beulers Day Off here is Yello with "Oh Yeah!"

In 1987 millions of people seemed to learn too sing in Spanish overnight with a remake of the Richie Valens 1960 smash hit. Here is Los Lobos with the theme song to La Bamba!

And for now that completes my journey back to 80's movie hits.

Hope you enjoyed the ride.

I am Casey Kase.... umm I mean Scott..

Remember Keep your feet on the ground, keep reaching for the stars and aiming those Dishes. :D

Who wants to live forever - Queen - Highlander
Queen managed to come up with some really good ones. I recently heard a tune of theirs that I'd never heard before in a movie soundtrack, but I can't remember the movie or the song name.

There's very little mistaking the vocal stylings of Freddie Mercury.

Scott,

If you liked Falco, there is a song that many missed. Rock Me Amadeus and The Sound of Musik get the most play, but there was another single called Vienna Calling that was pretty good... Especially if you can track down an old 12" single of the song that I used to play on my college radio show all the time..... (WMNJ Madison/Chatham, NJ "The Voice of Drew University" - God, I miss doing those shows)

I have a few different versions of Vienna Calling by Falco, my favorite one being Flaco giving folks a tour of Vienna, and in the tour he passes by the birthplace of Mozart, ,and as hes saying it you can hear Rock Me Amadeous in the backround. I laugh everytime I hear that version.

I am a huge 70's and 80's music buff. :)

Sounds like a good idea for a thread.......

Best obscure 12" singles from the 80's.....

One of my faves..... Anything by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.... They used to do amazing remixes.... Ditto for The Art of Noise....
