Hello Guys,
I live in Dallas, TX. Currently, I have a Bell TV account and am using a old 2700 receiver. I am having no problem getting a signal on 91 - standard def channels. I went to Canada in December and purchased as HD receiver. I have that now as well as a 21" dish. I keep seeing that I am not going to be able to get any HD channels here in Dallas because the 82 signal doesn't reach here. Is that true? Or is there enough of a signal that I may be able to pick up something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

coverage map for 82W....when they put the "new" (ie: old Directv) satellite up they shifted it north to cover Canada

in the green ring a 20" works fine
pink requires a 30" or so
purple...1 meter to 1.2 meter

outside of that....nada. No signal at all

Well...that sucks! So, I guess I purchased the HD receiver for nothing! I have been snooping around here on the site and it looks like I can get HD in Texas if I switch to Shaw. Is that correct? I am still getting SD channels on my old Bell 2700 receiver. I guess I could just stick with that. Any idea on when that may stop working?

You will get all channels avialable with Shaw Direct in Dallas. As for losing all Bell channels no one knows for sure, but when Nimiq6 goes up in in the middle of 2012 it is very possible that 91W will have about the same footprint that 82W has now as seen above, leaving you without any channles from Bell.
