Channels in the system: 740

Picture Quality I assume... they weren't available to subs anways. They were on the same TP that used to be the one in 8PSK mode.

I didn't know ExpressVu used 8psk.

I thought all the TPs were QPSK.

I guess you learn something new every day.

It was a TP in 21500 SR 8PSK mode that had 3 or 4 encrypted streams of some engineering only channels. It was then switched to QPSK then the SNAP channels removed and PQ channels added. Now those have been removed. I haven't looked at the TP but I will see if it is still active.

They've been testing them for a good while. If they ever reach the point of replacing the 6000's they have deployed, they'll probably switch HD over to it. But that'll be when there's enough HD content to cause bandwidth problems.

Why not just add in the 8PSK module that the 6000 accepts?

No space crunch yet, so no need to send modules to all the 6000 owners.
If they need to go to 8PSK, probably easier to update them all to 6100's instead.

The 6100 (also known as the Dish 811) really suck though. They were always problems for Dish owners and most on avsforum admit they were never reliable enough for main units. The 6000 with its limited memory runs circles around the 811 (and even the 211, imo) as the ViP211 will lose video at the slightest error and requires a complete reboot and satellite scan before you can get a picture back - while the 6000 simply freezes on the picture and requires a simple channel channel to correct.
