I added a fourth P* dish to my farmette today. I shut my receiver
down, changed cable connections to bypass the DiSEqC so as to connect
just my new dish, and sort of aimed the new dish to where I thought it
needed to be. When I powered up the receiver I immediately had a
beautiful picture: I had locked onto AMC-21 without even trying. What
are the odds? :D

It took me a while to find the bird I wanted, so I guess I'm still sort
of a beginner at this. But with a little lock -- er luck -- it IS getting easier.

cool...always nice to get a lock on the first try :)

I have a 6 foot dish that I wheel out of my garage for C-band (the deck where the other dishes are has a bad LOS for C-band) and now I can drop it where I need to and hit the sat right away :D

Are you reading my mind? I was going to ask you about your famous hockey BUD, whether or not you could aim it blindfolded by now.

By the way, I grew up listening to Lloyd Pettit announce Chicago Blackhawk games, which we watched together as a family on an old B/W TV, so I have a certain ingrained appreciation for ice hockey. Lloyd Pettit was GREAT. Am hoping to add a BUD of my own, but will probably want a permanent spot for it, screened off somehow, to keep the neighbors happy.

pretty much I can get it close....but I have to admit there is a partial theory

leaving the dish outside for a weekend and having rain or snow will make the bottom "O" ring leave a faint rust ring on the asphalt (washes off with soap & water)...so I know where to aim it the next time and I can visually see where the dish needs to go

On the elevation adjuster I have 3 marks
-true south spot
-far west spot
-where 121 is (which is 30 degrees off true south)

That way I know where to make adjustments :)
