Often they do make it up... in that stories are flexible and and can change as they go along. Even the well thought out ones can do so. But in this case to get around this issue perhaps we can just assume the scene on Kobol was a recording or projection. For all they knew the group was standing in the middle of a really good VR recording. Or if you like.... God did it.

I think I'll stick with the VR experience. That way, the writers "knew" what they were doing all along, and the fact that they "lied" to the characters (and us) by promising them a safe place for them to thrive is easily explained by the "well, it was like this when we made this recording."

The blogs explained a lot of this. There was discussion of the writers meetings where they sat around and decided how things were going to happen. This continued up until the end. The story was written on the fly, it was not a master planned series (like B5 pretty much was with some revisions as actors changed).

Remember they planned to end the series at nuked earth (writers strike killing series). The blogs do not give any hint that they decided at the start of the show the series would go to find the nuked earth, then go to find the real earth 150k years in the past. The 5 were made up during the show, then they decided who the 5 would be, long after they said there were 5 more.

I find myself watching re-runs of SG1 and SGA episodes on SciFi (or is it SyFy? ) just to find a good series to enjoy. Indeed, Fridays seem rather empty now without BSG...

BSG Season 4.5 on DVD and BD and the complete series set on DVD and BD are available for pre-order (no firm release date yet) on Amazon, but man, the entire series BD set is at a painful price!

I have the Season 1 HD DVD set so will wait it out till they release separately...

I wonder though, if they'll release them individually as season sets on BD or go the half-season set route? I'd be disappointed if they took that route with the BD sets...

I'll look for it as well... I have seen the promo on TV showing a Toaster... I understand that the CSI scifi themed episode the other night had some Battlestar Galactica actors in it, I haven't gotten around to it yet...

Will hold out for BD, I refuse to buy DVDs now. Why support SD, especially when they will sell you HD in the future...

Oh, I still buy some standard DVDs from time to time...but until the price of BD starts to get normalized (consistently at $15 or less), I'll just continue to mostly rent them...
