Basic question about aiming the dish

I'm new to this forum and have had some problems with poor TV pictures from time to time, which I believe shouldn't happen. I live smack dab in the middle of the country, in Berryton, Kansas, which is on the south boundary of Topeka, Kansas, 60 miles west of Kansas City. According to the installer, there is absolutely no interference from the environment, trees, buildings, etc. My system is a VIP722 and I believe the dish is a 500 (comes from the POINT DISH option on the setup screen). Here are the strengths of the 3 sats:

61.5 west - signal strength 22
77 West - signal strength 43
72.7 West - signal strength 48

Should I be calling Dish to get better signals or are these really acceptable values? If there is some tweaking I can do, which satellite do I work on to up the signal strength? Also, is there a 'how to' about the measurements, angles, etc for doing this?

:welcome to SatelliteGuys. We need some more info to help you. Can you give us the signal readings on TP's 19 and 21 on the 61.5 and 72.7 sats? Installation instructions (with how to aim) can be found here. Your dish probably needs some minor tweaking with the AZ or EL cams.

Welcome. The antenna that you have appears to be a 1000.4. You probably need to post the signal strengths (SS) for each transponder for each satellite position. The 61.5 SS you posted is pretty low but without knowing what transponder it is for, little can be concluded. A SS of 28 on a spot beam transponder means something different than a SS of 28 on a ConUS transponder. There is also some variation in SS among the transponders. If those SS are representative of all the transponders, you likely need a repoint. Go Menu - 6 - 1 - 1, select a sat position and change the transponder numbers to get a signal strength reading for each transponder and report back.

for 61.5 01 = 22 02 = 38 03 = none 04 = 47 05 = 66 06 = none 07 = 14 08 = 49 09 = 75 10 = 38 11 = 72 12 = none 13 = 59 14 = 61 15 = none 16 = none 17 & 18 none 19 = 35 20 = 45 21 = 36 22 = 40 23= 38 24 = 55 25 = 41 26 = none 27 = 46 28 = 40 29 = 46 30 = 42 31 = 45 32 = none
I can't get these in a table format so they're hard to read.
