Baseball Hall of Fame voting 2013

Regardless, he was not banned for what he did as a player, it was what he did as a manager. What he did as a manager should have no bearing on his HOF credentials.

John Dowd was on a talk show years ago. It might have been ESPN Cold Pizza. Anyway, he said they found evidence that his gambling went back many years. He said Dick Wagner was the General Manager of the Reds and became aware of Pete having a gambling problem when he was playing with the Reds in 1978. They passed on the concern to Bill Giles of the Phillies in 1979 when Rose signed with them. At that time they just thought he had a Gambling problem and didn't think or even question that he would bet on Baseball. Even today Pete seems to have a tough time understanding what he did. He loves to say he only bet on his team to win. I don't believe him. But if he did it's still wrong. Lance Armstrong and Pete Rose did different things but it some ways they're the same. They deny deny deny until they have no other choice but to tell the truth.
