bad sub contractor service

Depends on the distance from dish to receiver. A short (20') run can be done using almost anything (not that I would). I would NEVER use standard RG-6 with DishPro gear on anything over 50'.

"CATV" markings means it's tested to around 900MHz.

Someone earlier mentioned red inserts on connectors means 3GHz - untrue. I looked this up the other day and found some "red" that was only rated to 1GHz.

I have NEVER seen any trace of blue being less than 2GHz, though.
Just a minute....
You have me mistaken for someone who doesn't do their work properly......
First off, my supplier sells wall plates and ground bocks with red and blue inserts as 2 and 3 gig respectively..Secondly....That cable is not limited to 900mhz..We used similarly labeled cable for Primestar installs....Primestar supplied the crap!

When I got certified, the SBCA guy asserted that 3ghz Barrels were red or blue. I don't know that I have seen red in the field, but I have seen black, unless that was ultra dark blue. I didn't know, so I yanked it.

On the primestar tip....I did a dish 500 upgrade with a must carry. The old 300 was on the Primestar pole, I swapped it out with the 500 w/legacy twin, and installed a new mast for the 300 to hit the 61.5 with its legacy dual. Used both sides of the primestar wire, replaced a groundblock (1ghz), and put the SW21 in the house behind the TV, far away from switch corroding moisture! Gotta love the primestar stuff!

Right - CATV does NOT mean 'limited to' 900MHz, it means it's TESTED to 900MHz. BIG dfference!

As for red/blue barrels, There's gotta be millions of blue ones out there from BEFORE they even STARTED certifying to 3GHz. Typical SBCA - clueless.
