I have been trying in vain to get the AZBox to chnage channels on it sown so I can make an analogue recording of a programme on an external device (Betamax).
I have been unable to figure out how this can be done. The fact that the AZBox came with no instruction manual is not a big help.
At first I suspected the timer option in the settings meu would do this but I was wrong.
I figured out that the reservation menu was what I wanted. However if I set up a timer it had to be in "play" not "record" if you select record it says no recordable device exits or something. This works all nice andfine, when the appointed hour comes. Up pops a dialogue box asking if I want to tine to the reserved prgramme. If I do nothing it just stays there.
I did however discover that if you turn the AZBox off, it will turn itself on at the appointed time and channel. Yeah! But if you have a second reservation it will again pop up with the dialogue box asking me if I want to change the channel. So this actaully accomplishes nothing. Since I could just leave the AZbox tuned to the channel I wanted and leave it on and get the same result.
This as far as I can tell makes the AZbox useless to tune to desired channels when I am not around. Was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to get around this.
I do not know if this is how it is if you select record. However I have also been unable to find any menu that lets me tell the AZbox I have a recordable device attached so it will let me select the record option.
I have also found three other rather annoying faults with the AZBox one of which I have figured a work around, the other two I have not.
1) The audio outputs through both the scart and RCA jacks are in mono. The AZbox does do stereo but here chooses not to output it. You can however get stereo audio if you connect the optical output to an external decoder: Such as this:
GefenTV Digital to Analog Decoder :: Optical Cable :: Audio Cables :: Lenexpo-electronics :: HDMI Cables, DVI Cables, Audio Video Cables, HDMI DVI Component Switchers, HDMI DVI Component Amplifiers, HDMI DVI Component Converters, and much more!
However it would be nice to not need to spend more money for something that dhould be able to be handled internally.
2) On some DVB S-2 channels the NTSC output has all the blacks displayed as a dark gray. No clue how to get by this.
3) It does not seem to be able to save the prefered audio settings when a channel has more than one audio track. In fcat it tends to pick the second one (often undesired) and forgets that you want the primary one even when you go into the audio list settings and select it with both the cheque mark and the selection box. This is annoying when flipping through channels and would be even more annoying if the timer actaully worked.
l have firmware 0.9.3177 TD210. All these bugs occued with previous verisons and when I tried and update it lost all my channels and the unit kept crashing so I reverted and went back to find all my channels.
