Does anyone who has either of these boxes have anything good to say about them. I have been looking on eBay and it looks like I want that for feed hunting.

I have a 31" offset now, and i have a 10' SAMI that is not up yet and probably wont be for a while. Would recommend this box is all i can get is KU? or am i wasting time and money?

Last question i know it does dvbs2 and dvs and hd sd and 4:2:0, mpeg2 and mpeg4 so is the only thing this box is missing 4:2:2?

I also looked at that Vantage and it seems to have a lot of good features as well? Any opinions?

Thanks!

4:2:2 works, I don't know where you got that info from.. I have the Elite HD model and its my best unit I own.

Recommended from me for sure, and others.

As far as Elite of Prem, you will pay more for Premium which has everything the Elite has except you can add a 2.5" HDD and has built in wifi. Other then that, Elite works just the same as Premium for way less $$$$$.

Read my reviews of each of them in the review section. I humbly suggest that most anything you need to know will be covered in those two threads.

Oh cool!!

So your telling me that the box does everything, its the all in one solution?

MPEG2 DVB-S & DVB-S2 4:2:0 4:2:2 SD & HD & MPEG4 H.264

If its a ITC feed i can see it?

Don't forget to look at the Pansat 9200, a Non 4:2:2, DVB-S and DVB-S2 Blind Scanning unit that can Record High Bit Rate HD feeds to an external SATA Drive.

The AZBox does:
DVB-S 4:2:0
DVB-S 4:2:2
DVB-S2 4:2:0
DVB-S2 4:2:2
Records SD and Low Bit Rate HD (under 20 megabit)

AZBox does not:
Blind Scan

Vantage 1100 does:
DVB-S 4:2:0
DVB-S2 4:2:0
Blind Scans (both DVB-s and DVB-S2)
Records SD and Low Bit Rate HD
Shutters horribly on High Bit Rate HD feeds
Can handle AAC sound (not to be confused with AC3)

Vantage 1100 does not:
DVB-S 4:2:2
DVB-S2 4:2:2
With Firmware above 2.44, can not do AC3 sound

It all depends on what you watch.

lak, thanks for the quick breakdown as well. i can live with out blind scan and hopefully they will add it in the future!

I have a azbox elite and LOVE IT!!!

I use a Coolsat 5000 to blind scan then any HD or 4:2:2 feed I plug the info into the azbox and voila...TV :)

Yuppp. ... I blind scan with either a Pansat 3500a or Sonicview 8000HD then ------> to Azbox Elite HD

stogie, appreciate the invite! i dont usually get over to the west but if i do i will give ya a ring, i would like to see your setup!

i think im sold, not i need to count my pennies. :)

nobody can still make a box that can blind scan s2 and do 4.2.2 feeds. come on fta companies your getting closer but not quite there yet

Vantage 1100 does:
...
Shutters horribly on High Bit Rate HD feeds
...
tested a high bitrate HD mpeg2 feed a few days ago with 2.52 firmware (now 2.53 is available), no shuttering problems anymore, picture perfect and stable, hope they fixed the bug definitely (gonna have some more tests, tough)

p.s.: I have a Vantage 8000HD, not 1100, but they have the same firmware

Are you in North America? The unit works fine in Europe, just not with some types of SCPC feeds in North America.
