Because that would hurt the democrats case against Bush
I just read your signature line...how true. Let me get this straight, school busses are just fine for transporting voters to and from the polls, yet these same busses and even an Amtrack train are not suitable transportation in an emergency evacuation. What was the Idiot Mayor waiting for...a fleet of Cadillacs? Ugh! I'm sure some will argue this too was the Presidents fault.

according to quotes from interviews after the storm when told to use school buses as his emergency plan dictates he demanded private greyhound busses from everywhere in the nation

"I need reinforcements. I need troops man. I need five hundred buses man. They’re talking about, you know, one of the briefings we had you know they were talking about getting uh, uh you know public school bus drivers to come down here and bus people out of here. I’m like you gotta be kidding me! This is a national disaster. Get every doggone greyhound bus line in the country and get their asses moving to New Orleans. That’s, they're thinking small man, and this is a major major major deal. And I can’t emphasize it enough man. This is crazy! I’ve got 15 to 20 thousand people over at the convention center, its bursting at the seams. The poor people in Plaquemines parish, they’re air-vacing people here over to New Orleans. We don’t have anything and we're sharing with our brothers in Plaquemines parish. It’s, it’s, it’s, it’s awful down here man."

Apparently yellow wasnt good enough for Nagin before the storm hit either.

Didn't the New Orleans Levy Commission (not sure of the party affiliations) purchase a casino, a private jet, and make many questionable "investments" with local businessmen?

Casino's are supposed to be the be all end all answer to a cities financial woe's but obviously thats not the case. Detroit has several casino's that are making a nice profit each year, however the cities in a budget crisis and has been forced to close 8 firehouses and lay off police officers and other city employee's yet the mayor can lease an excursion for $24,995 a year for his wife.

As mentioned, this happens everywhere. Ohio's Governor was in court about 2 weeks ago.

I wonder why people say it's that we're bush bashing. Can bush never be wrong, at fault, or just not very good? Strip the teflon off him, last I checked he's still human and makes mistakes. Guy can't even ride a bike without falling off on his own damn ranch...

He cant eat a potato chip right either but hey he is human. I cant weigh in much on politics but even though to me it does look and smell like friends helping friends when it comes to these companies getting contracts from theyr political friends in high places. So let me ask everyone this question, lets say your mothers home needs a new roof and the foundation repaired, so do you call a roofing company and a general contractor whom you dont know the quality of theyr work or your buddies that know roofing and cement work?

Heaven forbid if they had a connection to General Electric - they couldn't accomplish anything without these kinds of accusations.

Bush is fair game...he has F'ed up multiple times on multiple issues. I just get a tired of hearing the entire Katrina issue is Bush's fault. Is he culpable? Yes, his appointments failed in their duties - it was a big mistake to appoint these inept individuals. And he failed to ensure the victims were receiving adequate care and attention by Federal and Local governments. This fact cannot be disputed. However, some agenda laden individuals are wanting to assign 99.9% blame on Bush and almost entirely dismiss the ineffective (borderline criminal misconduct) conduct of City and State officials...simply for political purposes. This is just insane. Moreover, the Bush bashing pundits go as far as to suggest the President does like Black people or people of color, etc. Yikes! Where do they contrive such utter nonsense? The fact of the matter is EVERYONE F'ed up, but EVERYONE (other than the idiot reporters) are going to extraordinary lengths to help the people affected by this disaster. Really...does anyone know of someone who hasn't contributed at least a few dollars toward the relief effort?
