Aw Dangit! Grounding aint done right.. what to do?

After going over my demarcation stuff, I saw a post somewhere about cable's demarcation point actually being *at* the grounding block, not before it, so the grounding block our satellite installer used belongs to the cable company, and even though the house wiring is ours, that kinda breaks things.. whoops.

Anyway, no big I guess, I'll just tip the cable installer to put a new one in when they add in the cable stuff again, but when I looked at the other 2 runs of wire (for the downstairs floor).. a fresh run that they put in back in November back when the satellite stuff was installed, there is no grounding whatsoever, no blocks anywhere visible! [and there aint nothing to ground to on the roof!]

So it's been almost a year since the install, probably meaning they'll charge to fix that, but can they? That's not really a legal install to begin with (they didn't even ground the DP34), so I'm at a dilemma there.

Nevermind The Dishnet CSRs came through for me again, and this nice person said they'd send someone out to fix it on Wednesday (even if it's been that long, it wasn't right, and it's not a small detail, so they won't charge for it). Awesome!

Looks like the cable GB will be back to their stuff, and the satellite wiring will get its own grounding blocks. Good, since that was (I guess) the problem with why the cable installer couldn't run the wire to begin with. Phew

I hate to say this, but the installes got 2 chances to get that one (it was before I knew what a grounding block was and really had no idea what to look for to make sure the install was done right, it looked fine to me)...

The first guy totally botched it up, the second set of people got it mostly right, but I guess they didn't catch that they 1. used the cable company's grounding block (it's got a tag on it) and 2. That 2 of the 4 coax wires aren't on ground blocks.

There's no grounding anywhere else, and there it should be. As much as it sucks to hear that, there aint really much I can say heh, because I don't think the customers should have to be trained to catch potentially expensive mistakes like that (if it was lightning damage, imagine what they'd have to pay to replace all the damaged equipment!)

And he should be charged back for not doing what he is payed to do, I pay a company to install something like a satellite dish I want it done right specialy considering that a dish is a lightning rod.

Well, a GROUNDED dish is a lightning rod.

An UNgrounded dish is a lightning attractor.
