Auto Tune Question

Does Dish not have an auto tune anymore with the Hopper 3?

Seems I used to tell my Hopper to tune to channel 200 daily at 6:00 AM and it did it.
Now It does not work and I can only tune to a named show. If they change the name say on Saturday and calll it xxx then again on Sunday and call it yyy it does nothing even though it is the same channel number.

Is there a fix?

I set a show to record, then edit timer and then change it to autotune.

After that if the name of the show changes will it still tune to that channel?

you'd probably need to start with a time based event.....I normally use it for same day events....someone with more experience will mostly likely offer more info soon

DVR / Timers / Options(or red button) / Create a Timer. I have an auto tune timer set for every morning to turn on the news and it works great.

BUT ... is the name of the news the same every day?

I set mine for CH 200 which is CNN. Mon-Friday it is the same name and works fine.
Sat the name changes and it does not work.
Sunday the name changes again and it does not work.

Monday it works again and all of these 3 shows are CNN news of a form in the morning.

I do not see a way to set a timer to simply tune to a channel at a time every day. At least not on my equipment.

I set mine for channel 205 Fox News to go on at 5:30AM (End is set to 6:00AM) and it works every day no matter what the name of the show is. Most of the time it's the same name but often on weekends it's not but the timer still turns the receiver on at 5:30AM every day.

Press 'dvr' to access recordings,
Move to 'Timers' tab,
Press 'red' button for 'showing...',
Press '3 create a timer',
At 'type' change 'dvr' to 'AutoTune',
Change other items to match channel, time, etc.

Does not matter the name of the show,
Thid sets a MANUAL timer to AutoTune a reciever to Channel & Time & Frequency.
Program name is not involved

That sure would be nice but mine does not work that way at all - it used to.

However, I wonder if yours it tuning to KTVK instead of channel 003-00?

Don't know why your's doesn't work but it works correctly here on 3 different Hopper 3's. The only time they've not worked was when I replaced a receiver and imported the timers from a remote. I had to delete the timer and create a new one to get it to work.

You've already deleted the timer and created a new one right? Maybe try 5:30AM Start and 6:00AM End like mine is?

I like to tune to CNN and call it the Trump Bashing Hour ... takes me about 5 minutes to zip through the hours's worth.

I am going to delete them again today and try again. My old Hopper 2 worked great.

It works good on the Hopper 3 too, it's probably just something weird going on. Maybe changing the start and end times will fix it. Glad to hear you weren't really watching CNN.

Nope .. can't stand the Cumo guy and his side kick ... terrible outfit.
