Auto Extend Time for Sports Recordings

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but how long has this feature been available: When selecting a future program to record, the DVR timer screen pops-up as expected, but if the program is tagged as a "Sports" event, the timer is automatically extended for 60 minutes. Kind of a nice feature.

That feature has always been there since dish added name base recording.

Boy, I fell really DUMB! As you can tell, I am not a regular sports fan.

I seem to remember this feature on my 522 many years ago, before name-based recording. It doesn't require NBR as it simply bases this on the category that the event is flagged as, i.e. sports.

Although sometimes the feature is useless, as with the prerecorded "GO USA!!" features that will be masquerading as Olympics coverage. Those always start and end on time, with whatever is perceived as the most popular sport being near the end so they get you to watch it all.

I also think it might have to do with what type of sporting event is as well. When I tape a NASCAR race it is extended for 90 minutes, where most sporting events are extended for 60.

How did you get NASCAR to extend to 90 minutes, my receivers give 60 min.
