About every minute or so on all HD channels I get a very fast audio stutter/glitch. Sometimes it is every 3 or 4 minutes, other times it is a couple times a minute.

It happens on all HD channels, locals and nationals. Some channels it seems like it happens alittle more than others. Like history, science, discovery, hdnet, local NBC, local FOX sometimes.

Recently I noticed it happening on a local so I switched to my TV tuner on my television, and I did not notice any audio problems. But if I switch back to HR-21 I notice the glitches.

All my signals strengths are ~95 for the 103c and the 99c. Have a HR21-200

Have tried doing a red button reset, and when that didn't help, went through the menu and did a "reset everything" where it deleted and reset the whole box. That did not help either.

Is this something that I am going to have to deal with? This is a pretty new box that was a replacement for a HR20 that had tuner 1 fail. It is about 2 weeks old.

Anyone else have any problems like this? Possibly software glitch? I know the new software came out just a few weeks ago, maybe related?

Thanks!

Do you know which software release you're currently running.

Menu>Setup>System>Info

We just had a new national release that has made my HR21-100 perform much better then before (even though the timing was terrible).

You could also click on the Cutting Edge forum & force one of their weekend updates; they are experimental releases but tend to do good things.

An occasional hiccup in audio/video is normal but what you're experiencing isn't. Be sure to check all your cabling, the dish & your b-band converters.

Yeah, it is the 290 version, it downloaded when I installed the box. Sometimes it will go a few minutes on some channels like every 5+ minutes or so before having a stutter.

My wife does not notice them, but when I rewind a couple times for her she can.

I had stutter from a couple of my recordings last night via my HR-21 (different channels and even one of the XM radio stations) .. all back to normal and running ok again tonight.

I am sorry, but any audio/video hiccups are NOT normal, they are completely unacceptable and a sign of software/hardware bugs which need to be fixed.

They are sending a tech out on friday to check it out. All my signals on the sats are 95+, and I have not had any video errors or problems. Just audio stuttering.

Will update on what they say on the trouble call.

This never happened with my HR20 I had two weeks ago, so i'm almost sure it is the box, but directv would not listen.

Also when the box is recording something, it does seem to do it more often. Almost like it is under load and stutters more often if that makes sense.

Again , this has been going on forever. As I'm typing this I just had one on CBS HD after the FB game. I thought originally it was just on my locals, but tonight has convinced me other wise. I'm in the NOVA / DC area, but people have been reporting this from all over the country.

We can type till our fingers are blue, nobody cares :) I sincerely believe this.

I get the audio glitches too with pixelation at times; not as frequently as you say, but I have noticed it on all hd channels. Some days, I don't notice it at all, other days it can be a little worse. I have read about others experiencing this on other forums as well with high signals, latest release, and red button reboots. My signals are high too so I'm guessing its a bug.

If it happens at all, it's usually prime time HD stuff. I'm not sold that all the bugs have been worked out yet cause I get the same stuff OTA.

I notice a stutter on FoxNews HD every 15 minutes or so, very subtle but there. When I do a slow mo, it shows the screen splitting horizontally, and then re-aligning together in less than a second. So far, only on that channel for me, knock on wood. Just noticed it again after 029B download, so that didn't offer up a fix. Good signal here as well. I hope Directv knows about this and can fix it. Maybe we should call.

All this stuff has been going on for months now. I dont exactly get glitches every minute like the OP is stating, but glitches nonetheless. Video and audio, everyday, without fail.

I see it on all 3 of my setups, and I see it on every other D* HD setup Ive looked at in the last few months. Everything is fairly subtle, nothing outrageous, but still hugely annoying and getting really stale.

There are threads that have been popping up on all 3 major A/V sites for months now regarding these issues.

So suprising to hear that Charper1 has ZERO issues..LOL... If the Direct install guy came to his house and took a crap in his living room, he would have no problem with it whatsoever :D

I've been getting the stutter for audio and video and a 2 second jump back on my H20 since the middle of last month without any new update for my receiver. I see it on most of the hd channels but not all.

Guffy, ditto....and it's happening on all different model receivers.
