I just ordered my new Dish service with the 942 in December and i am having a problem with my audio cutting out on my plasma a few times an hour for a couple seconds. IT doesn't happened allot but it does happen. i have a panasonice plasma hooked up to the 942 with an hdmi cable. my surround sound is connected through the rca's on the back of my 942 still stays on and works fine but the audio on my TV cuts out. I was also looking into the 611 mpeg upgrade , do u guys think if i call and complain about the 942 and because i just got it in DEC for $250 they will upgrade me for free?? by the way this is my second 942 receiver, the first one they sent me for install didn't work well also, it had picture problems. one more final question is can i transfer my recorded dvr shows to another receiver if i get a new one or am i screwed and loose all my recordings?

Thanks for your help guys i am new to the site and this place is great.

First, Welcome!!!
I don't know what to tell you about the HDMI problem. I use the optical connection to my audio receiver so that I can get DD 5.1 through it (as the HDMI only passes 2 channels). I assume you are thinking about upgrading to the 622 (not the 611?). I don't think they will upgrade you for free, but if you wait until April 1st you can get the upgrade for $99 (299 minus a rebate of $200). To answer your final question, you cannot transfer the recorded shows to anything other than a PocketDish. So you are out of luck on that. Sorry. It stinks that you have had so many problems with the 942. I actually have 2 of them and have very few problems. Hopefully this answered most of your questions. If you have more, feel free to ask!
