AT&T’s massive TV losses continue as another 900,000 customers flee.

Wow,
Don't you guys get tired of posting the same "ATT is losing subs " threads ?

I find it boring, particulary when theres about a dozen here already.

These are NOT anything New.

No clue why people think it should be different ...

Btw, many others are losing subs as well, but those aren't posted every day.

:facepalm

Dish and ATT get the same quarterly treatment, when the data is announced. Dish's hasn't been announced yet for this quarter.

Comcast and other cable companies, not as much, since this is primarily a satellite forum.

It's not an excuse, it's just reality. Satellite guys have a specific interest in the satellite business and its future, good and bad. I don't get the overreaction.

Some thoughts about ATT and what they could do.

ATT TV Now should shift to the YTTV model. Keep only the Max channel lineup and drop HBO and Cinemax from it, charge $55. That’s a little more than YTTV but it has 5.1 audio that YTTV doesn’t.

That makes ATT TV Now a direct competitor to YTTV and Hulu+Live at a decent price. And ATT TV Now is a direct competitor.

ATT TV - I think they could make the case for this to work by doing away with the contract, box and dual pricing.

IMO, Entertainment is $50/month 1st year, $93/month 2nd year. Offer it at $70 at the outset, no contract, no box. Fair price IMO and possibly a better chance of being successful.

As it sits right now I see no way that ATT TV survives. The contract is a big negative and overshadows any benefit of more channels than some other streamers and 5.1 audio.
I like most all of what you said here ...
Drop the contract and drop the price in line with others, not $10+ more per month than others.
Starting point at $70 is still too much ...

They foolishly started out at $35 awhile back and drew in tons of subs, then upped the price TWICE in one year ... stating that they could not make a profit at the starting price .... BULL o_O :(

When the nation is stuck at home, streaming and watching OTB TV services, losing nearly a million customers is not a good show of the strength of your offerings.
"Stephenson said he’s looking at possible job cuts and other cost efficiencies in order to stem the bleeding."

This quote, is very typical of Stephenson ....
He has cut jobs EVERY YEAR since he's been here.
I see it at LEAST once a year, sometimes more .... We have seen it locally here every year.

Satellite guys is MUCH more than a Sat site ...
Yes, thats what brings people here, but as you know, the site covers so much more .
Yep. But it's still the primary focus and the bulk of the traffic is still on the Dish and DTV forums. So about 8 threads a year out of thousands is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Max's Allegheny Tavern. Discussion over. :D
Absolutely. I want to do two things: Take my MiL to Max’s. And take her to the RV Hall of Fame. Both of which she wants.

And neither of which will likely happen, given her age, retirement facility restrictions, and the general health concerns. I just don’t think she’ll still be with us when things finally blow over. Assuming they do. This year, at least.

Max’s, I think, will survive. Many others won’t.
