electronics can manage many moves in a short time .
i have an octagon sf8008 with openatv or openpli , i know what you talk about :
positioner is starting while we select a sat in large list of sat , but if positioner firmware is fine these steps are carefuly driven !!
for my positioner it s ok!
some time ago i had test with a Vbox positioner its also ok !
so maybe you can have troubles with ILS (reed ) or with cables between outdoor unit and positioner : moisty cables ,short circuit.

In TNAP, use the PVR button when a satellite selection is required to display a list, select the target satellite then OK to drive (issue the goto command).

Not sure if TNAP does it. Vix, Pli, PurE2, OpenATV all do though.
In the Blindscan screen for example. If you scroll through your sats list sure enough each one you pass wants to move the dish. Some bug happens where sometimes you're allowed to go back to a previous sat and sometimes not. Forcing you to only go one direction all the way until you get back to the one you wanted. Like in language selection. One way only.
