Whats funny is technology around HD and DVR stuff can do just about anything. I know there is bandwidth limitation for the number of HD channels but HD growth and advanced features are more slowed down by marketing, legal and profit reasons right now. I think slow and steady business practices is more important reason then anything. If D* really wanted to be on this device or any other, they would. But I think their thinking is all about the Wall Street bottom line. If I cant see an ROI on something why offer it.
Thats why we are seeing the NDS stuff. They own the company, it needs to be just good enough. Look at their latest profits. From a business perspective, they are doing alot of things right. From an early adoptor, love HD, gotta have lots of new toys, they are frustrating the heck out of folks. They may lose some high end folks but the plain vanilla stuff is kicking butt right now.
