Have a friend at a local store that wants to view HUM-TV, WAQT-TV, Aaj-TV @ 11965 tp 13. His newly installed cheap receiver says no video signal. Are they scrambled?

Yep they are showing "Conax" encryption on my sets. I think sometimes they are on for free, but since I don't watch them, couldn't swear to that! Perhaps they are avail from some company that supplies a card (for receivers that accept the cards for pay-tv).

Thanks turbosat!

Guess he trusted LyngSat a bit too much. I'm new to FTA. Cut my teeth on ole 10' fiberglass BUD's, LNA with downconverter. We had to open receivers and play with pot adjustments yee haw! Dish movers were separate units and adding receivers was always fun. Everything was FTA till bout 1985

I know about that too, I still have a new cal-amp lna or two in boxes, they're 120 degree ones lol. Had a polarotor 1 in the early days, and built a box with a toggle switch and 9volt battery to change the skew for awhile! Ah, the good old, primitive days.
