I am not too familiar with Apps but want to jump in to them some. What is the best way to launch an App, thru DISH's DVR apps or use the TV apps? For example, if I want to watch a Netflix 4K movie would the picture quality be better thru the 4K TV (Cat5 connected) Netflix app or thru the Hopper's Netflix app? What about the DVR functions, full or partial functions thru the TV or DVR? What about a Slingbox, is it better to use apps thru it? I have a Slingbox 500 attached to one of my HWSs. Thanks for any help.

OK, thanks. Does anyone know if DISH might add the Amazon app sometime?
There are much better platforms for those who want to play with "apps" and using those won't interfere with everyone else's general TV viewing experience (unless you lack the Internet bandwidth to support what you want).

you guys know what apps i would like to see to come on here so i wont bother talking about it
Somehow I don't think that's going to slow you down.

Please consider that there is a large part of the community of DISH subscribers that doesn't want the same things as you for fear that it will compromise (slow down, make buggy, etc.) things that we really need. Your position is often quite selfish in that it places your wants above everyone else's needs.

So, I don't get 5.1 out of my Roku either and I wish I could find out why.

Not familiar with a Roku. On the info screen on Netflix on my PS3, the 5.1 audio info is displayed. That info does not appear on the Dish app.

Does your Roku display if 5.1 audio is available?

oh the only two i want is tunein and iheart radio did you guys know that the bluegrass junction station was preempted for radio hannuah for the next eight days also alot of people on bluegrass junction page is complaining that they will cancel their subsciption to siriusxm. now you guys know i want these two so bad.

Does the Dish-Netflix app even support 4K output ? I suspect it does not.
Yes, I partially watched a Netflix 4K movie this morning. Wasn't that impressive to me.. Looked like a good 780 to 1080p quality to me. I have only seen one Blue Ray disc before on my son's Play Station and it was awesome. What I watched on Netflix was no where near the Blue Ray. When I watch some more 4K next couple of days I am going to post my reviews under the 4K Joey Installation thread I started and posted about my new 4K Vizio.

Sounds like you are confirming that it does NOT support 4K then.

Well, I am still new at all this App stuff. I subscribed to the Netflix 4K. I checked out a TV show called Jessica Jones and a movie called Hitch. When I check the info both say 2160p. The movie doesn't fill the TV screen. Got black bars at the top and bottom. When I click on the screen mode it is locked in normal mode. I am still learning this Vizio TV, maybe I have a setting issue. It appears to me in the TV settings there is nothing to select for the 4K mode. I guess it is automatic. Later on today I will plug the HDMI cable in a different port and check it out. I sure don't like the black bars at the top and bottom.
