Anyone using Western Digital My Book AV DVR Expander 1 TB?

Well, there's some risk.

Let's assume one HDD is completely empty. With Dish, you'd want it formatted first for sat use; I assume it is the same with DirecTV. Let us further assume you have a good RAID 1 hardware implementation. Then yes, I'd say odds are very good that the hardware will copy correctly. Let it run overnight, at least, and don't be using that receiver during that time period.

Expect maybe a 30% speed reduction. Which probably will be lost in the weeds and barely noticeable if at all.

Most of all, let us wait and get more opinions on this. My RAID experience is with Windows and Dish.

If I pulled my current HDD from the dock connected to the 34, and plugged it into a raid setup with say another 2TB drive, would it mirror my dvr'd content?

I think it would if you use a raid setup to mirror drives, and use the EXACT same model hard drive as you use now. I've never done it though, not sure.
