Anyone using Darbee with Dish HD?

Been doing some tinkering. I know the Darbee can be set on HD and much higher with a quality source like Blu-ray, but with sources that have some compression issues you need to be careful because of artifacting.

Seems HD and 20-25 is a pretty good happy spot.

I use a Darbee with my Hopper 3 and Samsung 60" 1080p Plasma. Seems it adds a little "pop" to the picture, at least to me.

I have it on 2 (yellow) at about 45. That's just what "looks" the best to me.

Thanks. I started at 25, figure I would bump up as I go until it seems to be causing problems.

Darbee has EXCELLENT customer service. My Darbee Darblet decided to stop working for some reason. I had just bought it in September. I sent them an email, they said just to send it in and they would look at it. About a week after it arrived, I got an email that it had been repaired and mailed back. I would highly recommend them, based on the dealings that I have had witht them.

I've heard that. Mine is built into my Blu-ray player, but they have good service too.

Unhelpful posts aside... Ahem.... The Darbee is a wonder. Even long time enthusiasts and pros have praises for it. I use it for DISH, TIVO, and my BlueRay player. (Using a switcher so all go into the same input so all go through the Darbee) I have settled on Yellow at about 40%, enough to sharpen faces and add a little depth to the background. It makes little difference on SD but a nice touch for HD sources.

I am guessing the yellow for you Darblet guys is the "Hi Def" mode for me. I'll move up to around 30-40 and test some more.

Nice to see that there are some other folks using a darbee with dish receiver! I have a Darbee 5000 that I used on my 722K and now on my HWS that I installed in January. It is hooked to a Sony XBR 75" 4K TV. On the HWS I turned the level down to 25 in Hi Def (green) and have been using it that way. After reading this thread I turned it up to 35% and then paused a movie I was watching. I really don't see any difference between Hi Def/Gaming(yellow)/or full pop at 35%? Could someone tell me why yellow(gaming) that you are using?
On most channels I have a really good pic but some channels I am getting heavy compression artifacts on dark scenes in the background (especially TNT). I'm sure this is being caused by Dish's overly compressing the channel and no fault of the Darbee. The problem is that I don't remember this situation with the 722K. Have to live with it I guess unless the new CUI for the HWS comes along. Someone swears it provides better pic quality on the HWS (time will tell)!

I do know if the source has a lot of compression, Darbee can actually cause adverse effects. I think with Blu-ray you generally don't have to sweat it, but the higher you go with a poor feed it can actually add noise.
