Man Dish called me late yesterday afternoon and I just got the USB key via Fed Ex. Has anyone ever used one of these on a 942 ? I guess it's supposed to automatically download the receiver log files and then reset the receiver.

I wonder what, if anything I'd see if I plugged this thing into my computer's USB port?

Got the USB Key. It's nothing more than a "Scandisc" 512mb USB plugin, about the size of a Bic Lighter. I came taped to a sheet of paper with simple instructions to plug in front of 942, picture freeze is normal, it lights up in back, when done receiver reboots durning which you remove key and mail back.

Well, it did not work in front USP port but it did in the rear port.

I was going to hook it to my computer but decided against it. I was just curious if this means that any usb type storage device will work on the 942.

I'm sure the box says "Hey who are you?" the key says "hey, i'm your pal" and that's why it works when, say, a hard drive says "You don't know me, but let me violate you!!" and is turned away...

That's why they don't just have you plug it, download a file, and email it to them...

dvr 921 why is this thing always running?
