Anyone notice WSBK color problems tonight?

I noticed tonight on WSBK (UPN Superstation) that the reds were fluctuating wildly on both my tv sets, one has a 522, the other a 921 for the receiver so it wasn't a receiver based or tv based problem.

However, I emailed WSBK directly as dish is just passing on the signal and WSBK's response:

Sir,

While we appreciate your comments and concerns you do not live in our DMA so our picture quality is out of our control. Please contact your service provider.

Ok, am I wrong in thinking dish just passes on the signal? To me it just sounds like they are passing the buck.

Did that too. The response I got said that all picture issues relating to color are from the source, not dish. They only pass on what they get from the source and they told me to contact WSBK.

The other UPN is not doing it, so it's definately a 1 channel issue.

I was more interested if anyone had gotten the response from another station like the one I got from WSBK where they say I am not in their DMA so they can't help me. I must have my idea of superstations all mixed up.

While WSBK may have a problem, they are not responsible to you for Superstation delivery. DISH Network is. It is that statutory consent thing.

So, what are you saying? It's dish's fault on the picture color issue? or WSBK? Your response sounds like the responses I get from Dish and WSBK. Being that WSBK is a superstation by definition, would they be responsible to anyone for the delivery of their product? I mean superstation are carried nationally by satelilte and cable providers, so technically WSBK doesn't deliver any of it. Based on what your saying they would only be responsible to the OTA viewers.

I understand on delivery and I didn't tell WSBK I had a reception problem, just a problem with the picture fluctuating in color. All I wanted to do was alert someone to the color problem and both parties are saying it is not their problem to fix.

WSBK was making it sound like a Dish problem. Now most issues I would consider, but I don't see dish messing with the colors as much as maybe the compression and resolution. To me the color problems arise from the original broadcast.

Dish was saying all they do is deliver what WSBK gives them (minus a few things such as compression and such and their own dish commercials for PPV etc).

Who do you pay for the service? They are the ones who should field your complaints. They also do not have much leverage to get WSBK to correct any problem which may be theirs, since it is a take it or not situation.

The problem may be multipath flutter in the OTA reception path at Boston.

That is what I have been saying. Dish won't field it and WSBK won't field it. Each keeps blaming the other.

The only response I got from WSBK today was

We realize there is a problem with the feed we are sending to dish network. Please contact them to address your issues with color as you are not in our DMA.

heh, I give up.

The problems are even more severe on WSBK as of late. Now we've got the picture freezing for a split second every minute or so, and the audio is occasionally falling out of sync with the video. I've got it on both of my receivers so it's either something with Dish or something with the station themselves, though from the sound of it, "nobody" is responsible for fixing it.

All I ever got from Dish and WSBK was "not our problem". I tried getting someone to answer the question for 2 days. I gave up and now don't watch WSBK anymore.
