Have you played the GH series and Rock Band on both? I just upgraded to a 1080p set. PS3 is in my future. Trying to decide if I should hook both systems up to it or just the PS3 and purchase the next GH and RB games on the PS3. Besides needing new guitars, I'll assume the game play is basically the same on both platforms?

Well maybe we should start with another question: Why would you NOT hook up both systems to the 1080p set?

I've only played 360 versions of RB and GH, but I haven't heard of any real differences between the 2. Even if one had better graphics than the other, do you really have time to notice? I would lean towards the version that more of your friends have so that you can easily bring the stuff over. Also, this may be a moot point, but with the 360 you do have another GH game that the PS3 does not.

I have it hooked up now. Looks great. But I also have 2 sons. If I hook both up to the same TV, you know what'll happen. Dad won't get any playtime. I do have an extra video cable for the 360, that I can leave connected. I'll probably just drag the 360 out to the main TV, when we want to play GH or RB, like I did with the old set. I've never played a PS3, so that's why I asked. Will mainly be used for BR. Maybe a couple of PS3 exclusive games.
BTW, I made the mistake of showing the kids the Little Big Planet trailers. That's the game they want now for the PS3.

I didn't realize that you already had the equipment for 360. I'd say that you should just stick with the 360 versions since you already have the equipment. I mean do you want to have to deal with 2 sets of instruments that will only work on their respective systems? Not to mention the fact that you'll have to throw down $170+ for the big package of instruments, and your existing DLC won't work from the 360.

I don't know if you already know this, but even the original Xbox360 can output 1080p via component(if you TV set is compatible) or VGA. I used VGA for a significant time with no issues before I got me an Elite.

I'm with yourbeliefs, if you already have the instruments why spend a lot of money on new instruments. The only difference on the drums set is the doble bass inputs, but for $20 you can get it on ebay.

If you already have the 360 version of Rock Band then I wouldn't buy the PS3 version of Rock Band 2. You can carry over you DLC from RB1 to RB2.

I had the 360 running 1080p last night. Look very good on the 72, but I really couldn't see a big difference from 1080i to 1080p. I had the Rock Band kit. I ended up selling the drum kit and mic. Just never used them. Also have a pair of wireless GH guitars. Selling my wired GH and RB guitars. Thanks yourbeliefs. I get new "toys" and overlook the obvious. I have a bunch of content already on the 360. You guys are right. Doesn't make sense to buy new equipment when I already have everything for the 360. BTW, is the MGS4 bundle still hard to find? No local retailers have it in stock.

Apparently you can still get them here, but remember that Sony will be (and in some places already are) selling an 80 GB version for $399, although it does not come with MGS4 or the backwards compatibility or added ports (more USB, card readers, and SACD support)

Also I would recommend keeping those wired guitars. You never know when one of the wireless ones could break down and then you get to mediate fights between the 2 boys over who gets to play guitar. I suppose you could sell the RB guitar without much consequence (as it is a HORRIBLE guitar on so many levels) but I would keep that other guitar as a backup.

yeah. I saw the online bundles. On vacation this week. I was hoping to grab one at a local B&M store. Looks like that's out. I'll probably order through Amazon. I saw the bundle at NewEgg w/ 17.xx 3 day shipping.
