Anyone every try Akimbo?

I did for my Windows Media Center. I liked it but not to justify the 10 bucks a month. If it was free I would certainly peak at a few programs a month.

These IPTV services are very strange. They combine old b-movies with tons of porn. I guess these companies are in their infancy and they are hard pressed to get programming.

The main thing that makes me hesitant about Akimbo is that it seems most of their video providers only give a few items to basic $9.99/month subscribers, and require an additional monthly fee per video program provider in order to really get a decent selection. It just seems as if a customer could end up paying significantly more than the basic rate to really get a complete package with lots of interesting content to watch.

I also believe that besides the aforementioned adult and B-movie categories, that IPTV providers should really look into providing foreign language, because the existing providers could use some competition, and as it stands, it seems a great deal of foreigners will pay quite a bit of money to get some TV from their homelands. There are probably also languages / cultures not offered on satelllite that might be big enough markets for IPTV, even if there is no "business case" for E*, D*, or Globecast to carry them.

You would think that someone would get the bright idea to offer some English language programing from Australia, Canada or the UK. I would be intrested in something like that.

Stay tuned I am actually working on something in this regard, and you will be able to tune in via their IPTV box or via your computer using Windows Media.

Its sort of like ITVN, except this offers foreign programming at half the cost of the satellite companies.

I hope to have something to announce in a week or two. :)
