anyone else get leopard yet?

I know there are several mac users here, just wondering if anyone else has installed leopard on their machines? so far so good here, I must say that Mac is far ahead of windows at being efficent with computers...I love the ease of use of apple software.

Shame about the rest of the Mac OS though ;0 Mac won't be taken serious in my opinion until they make a product that can truly compete with windows in the networking/modern office sense. Mac's still have no place in a modern office environment. They however dont seem interested in taking on this angle in fairness, they seem far more interested in the home user and the graphic designer than they do anything else with regards to their target market. Notably before someone asks me my reasoning for this opinion, I run a very large network comprised of approx 250 Pc's and 100 Mac's. Hence I have intimate knowledge of what I am talking about ;0

I installed it on Friday afternoon to my Macbook Pro. So far I can't say I am impressed or disapointed.

Don't seem like that much new to me. It wasn't like a major upgrade. Much of Lepard should have been released as system patches.

I ordered mine from amazon (it was only 109.99) and it was shipped on friday so hopefully i will get it tues or weds. I am looking forward to using spaces and stacks.

Any word on when macs will be able to play HD movies i heard that they were going to be compatable with both Blu-ray and HDDVD.

My son got in line for the 6 pm debut and installed it today. It was actually kind of fun standing in the Apple line. It was very well organized

I got a replacement PowerBook G4 from the office, and we had a Leopard install party.

As Scott says, most of the changes seem(!) to be under the covers.

The new Mail.App seems faster, but so far, It seems mostly the same.

(mind you this is on a PPC based LT).

I installed Leopard today on both my macs and I like it more. Sure there isnt much difference but the dock looks nicer, and its easier to use things.

Some people's idea of a "large network" and others are quite a bit different.

I installed it this week. I like the new FrontRow (which is like AppleTV). It seems much more responsive, and looks a lot nicer. (And it can access multiple Video TS folders, which is HUGE.)

I also like QuickLook. And the Web Clip widget thing is really pretty awesome.

I hate the new Stacks feature in the dock. They basically removed the ability to view folders hierarchically in the dock. I think that sucks.

Haven't played with Time Machine or Spaces yet.

But overall, I think it is a good update. Worth the money in my opinion. (Just need to find some shareware that addresses my issues with Stacks.)

I may be holding off on Leopard depending on how Stanford resolves an issue with Nice vs. User CPU usage of the SMP Core program. Some Folders running Leopard report erratic video playback and Flash animations.

I am using the SMP core program on mine and while its using all the CPU, its not slowing down other things I amdoing on the PC. (Which is normally just email and web browsing)

I am surprised though how SLOW it is finishing a work unit (about 3 days) I expected it to be close to the XBOX360 speed.

Im waiting on my 9 dollar copy to come from apple. I'm able to get the upgrade for purchasing my mac mini in October. I faxed in the form but have yet to hear back from apple.

If I'm Folding a single instance of the SMP Client on my Mac Pro (4 2.66 GHz cores) it finishes a WU in about 20 hours. If you figure the differences due to cores and processor speed, I could see close to three days on a 1.66 GHz Core 2 Duo.

As far as being your Mac Folding as fast as an XBOX 360, well, I believe the Mac will Fold an infinite number of WUs compared to the XBOX...

That's how I got mine... I purchased a refurb c2d macmini in October, and used my $100 iphone credit. I did pretty well on this deal. :up Saved $220 and got Leopard for 9 bucks.

There are some issues with the firewall in Leopard. Read here, securosis.com , and take any necessary actions to ensure that you are secure.

If you don't think that Macs don't have a place in big business or a lareg network, then you need to been up on your knowledge. Mac is superior in most ways to a PC. In fact there are many large companies that use nothing but Mac's. The only thing thing that PC has going for it is price alone. I think your knowledge is not as initimate as you would like us to believe. AND, by he way, I put leopard on my MAC this weekend and it is great. The nice part is that you only need one system to get all of it's features instead of the multiple versions of Vista you have to deal with.
