Could care less! I get plenty of information from ESPN on baseball scores. MLB is mostly recaps of games and maybe 1 or 2 games a week. All I care about is getting my Twins games from my Multi sports pack. $5.99 vs $12.00 from D* for this package. What a ripoff! I will stay with Dish!
P.S. The receiver's part came from the troll being a smart a$$ about dish never getting the packages. My response is "who cares?" I will take the better receiver's, better pricing, and be happy. Now do you understand?
Why are you discussing the issue of switching? The issue is Dish getting MLBNet. DirecTVs recievers, packages, and you swithing are not relevant to Dish getting MLBNet or not.
MLBNet is part of a basic package, you do not need to pay for a sports package to get it.
You missed the point! Nobody is switching! A simple response from a troll bragging Dish does not have MLN Network, ML baseball package and NFL packages. My comment is I get plenty from ESPN, my 3 RSN's, and don't need to waste, in my opinion, money to get sports packages. While MLN Network would be nice it really is a lot of repetition of ESPN and shows hardly any baseball games. So big deal!
I understand what you were saying. I understand that Dish gives you what you need better than any other provider. MLBNet would be a nice addition for you.
Trust me when I say that MLBNet is nothing like what they have on ESPN. They have so much more, and if you are a baseball fan you would love this station.

I would just like to get the Red Sox games in Florida without logging on to a computer to do it. I hate the picture quality on the computer... even the HD picture isn't that great (when I connect it to my big TV). I would be willing to pay an additional fee just to get NESN complete with the Red Sox games. Why can't I have THAT. Paying a monthly or annual fee to have all the teams is a waste of money for me.
Yup...that pretty much sums up my grievances with the whole EI thing...
I've been saying all along that a regional EI package would be nice...I mean, who even has the TIME to watch that much of one thing...
I think he meant, allow those the choice to which region one wants to sub to.
MLB would not allow this as the larger markets would get even more viewership.

When I said regional EI package, I meant being able to sub to EI by league and division...
That would help balance out the viewership a little...

They want viewership restricted to the local team so the illusion of "parity" of the leagues can be maintained.
The reason MLB EI is so expensive is that to allow you to watch the team you want, they have to redistribute the wealth of the league to the smaller teams - MLB EI pays the freight.

Its an unpredictable numbers game...
Obviously, selling EI based on league and division would be better for the EI subs who have a choice. popularity associated with the different teams in each division would balance things out in terms of viewership....
Where the numbers get dicey is that most certainly there are EI subs who sub only to get their one team and would snap up the less expensive option. So yes, MLB would loose revenue because the would stop ripping off the diehards with an all or nothing offering. However the big question is, would there be a sufficient number of NEW EI subs who would never sub to EI given their all-or-nothing-pay-out-the-butt model, but would gladly sub to EI if given a less expensive option to view thier team? I for one, would definitely fall into the later group. Even though I get every game I want to see as it is, I would certainly love a divisional package on EI just to track the other teams in the division, and gladly may an honest fee to do it. But to pay an exorbitant fee for five other divisions I don't necessarily care about? I do not think so...waste of money...
Even some divisions would get more viewers than others. The AL East (which would probably be the most requested) would probably get way more subs than the AL Central (which would probably be the least requested), with the NL East, NL Central, and NL West in the midddle. At the same time, the highest and lowest marketed teams lie within these respective divisions. Even if the moneys are allocated to each division and/or team equally, there is still a disparity when it comes to marketing and advertisement.

If you receive regional sports networks outside of their market, you cannot get the major league sports teams that they broadcast. The channel is blacked out. I would want to pay an extra fee to see the team or teams that they broadcast as well. That is currently not allowed... and I think it's silly.
