Have heard mostly good reviews, some bad about the bulb light but the recent reviews say that problem has been fixed.

My friend bought a 62" toshiba last fall and loves it. He watches TV to many hours a day. The bulb has yet to be replaced and he has had no trouble so I would say go ahead and get it.

Do more research

I have a 42' Toshiba DLP tv. It was purchased in late Nov. 2005! TWO bulbs have exploded already and we are AGAIN without a good T.V. until Toshiba sends us another replacement. We bought an extended service plan thru store of purchase , but they don't keep the bulbs in stock!!
Date of purchase--- Nov. 24th,2005 --- The first bulb blows the first night of March Madness!!!!!!------The second bulb blew today July 31st 2006!! So I would really investigate both Toshiba and DLP T.V.s. When the set works it is awesome and HD rocks!! Remember without warranty(1 year) or extended warranty the bulbs are over 200 dollars!

I got a Toshiba 62", had it for about 2 months 3 software patches and still had issues. I just gave up and returned it, purchased a Mitsubishi 62 w/ 1080p and loved it 10x more than the Toshiba.

Never got to test out how long the bulb lasts.

Toshiba has said there was a problem with the 2005 DLP bulbs. They doubled the warranty to two years. Consumer reports claims that Toshiba DLPs have had the fewest repairs of any brand.

Thank You teamerickson! That is great information. I am going to investigate. I was on the phone yesterday for almost an hour with Toshiba. I was told that all they will do is send me another bulb (because it is within the frist year warranty), but the bulb itself only has a 180 day warranty.

This is posted on Toshiba's website under customer support - updates/notices.

Product Resource: Information for Owners of 2005 DLP® Televisions

To ensure the satisfaction of our customers and to maintain the integrity and quality of our products, Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. is issuing an important product update.

Toshiba is committed to customer service and to continuously improving the quality of its products. It has come to our attention that the lamp life of some lamps in a limited number of 2005 DLP television models and serial number ranges may be less than our expectation. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer service, Toshiba is extending the warranty on the originally-installed lamp in those particular 2005 DLP television models and serial number ranges for one additional year (for a total warranty period of two years for the originally-installed lamp) to enable customers with those televisions to obtain a new and improved lamp free of charge if the originally-installed lamp fails. If you own one of the DLP television models listed below, please enter your serial number in the box below to determine if your particular DLP television qualifies for this extended warranty. The serial number can be located on the back panel of the television. Be assured that Toshiba DLP televisions are of the highest quality and this update regards a limited issue.
