Why not keep the 622 as your primary receiver, use Tv2 for the kitchen and upgrade the other Tv’s to Wally’s with external hard drives
I didn't think you could add a Wally to an account that has a ViP.
You might be able to get them to keep your Grandfathered fee but at $10 not $7 or at least get it for two years if you get the Hopper, if they already are not you might also get the two year $15 package price reduction and freeze all for signing a two year deal. (Depends on their credit and if they usually pay on time) So $10 for DVR fee and $7 Joey fee would be $17. Three rooms $24.The reason they might is new customers often can get the $10 fee for the two year contract.
The advantage of the Wally's is redundancy and an ongoing lower cost per month. If the Hopper has a problem no TV though they only had one receiver till now anyway. And for two people one of the big advantages of the Hopper - all the tuners - isn't such a big deal. Three Wallys would give them 6 tuners.

On this, I agree with you. Dish's rules concerning mixing receivers is ridiculous. With 1 DPP LNB, a 42 Switch and a 44 Switch, you could run a myriad of setups. Hopper Sling with 2 Hopper 3's and up to 14 Joeys, plus a VIP or Wally off the 4th output of the 44 Switch. Or 2 Hopper 3's off the 42 Switch and 4 VIP's/Wallys off the 44 Switch. Or trunk in a 2nd 44 switch. I've always believed that if you can imagine it, you can do it.
Hell, they still say 2 Hopper 3's on a Duo Hub off a 42 Switch isn't possible
Tried it on my setup. Did NOT work on the Hopper3 but DID work on the Joey3. My Wally is currently not enabled so I’ll rely on others there.
It works on my Hopper 3 and 4k Joey. Make sure you are viewing live TV.
