Another failed install....

Well - after the new HD were only added to 72.7 and 129, I had scheduled an appointment with Dish to come out and put the appropriate setup for me to get the new channels... I have 61.5 (for Internationals, HD & Locals) and 110/119 setup today and at that point, Dish CSR had told me that I was going to get a 1000.4 install that would would help me get all the channels I needed.

So, today the installer shows up and says, that if 1000.4 is installed then I would lose my Internationals and he does not have the "1000+" dish in his truck to install for me today - so it will have to be rescheduled. Then he spent an hour (!) on the phone with Dish on getting the right order processed and now have a new install date for Saturday....

What a waste of day...I had to take time off from work for it today and was completely wasted.

There has to be a way for Dish CSR's to be able to check before hand what equipment the customer needs - they already know where I live, what program I subscribe to and what programming I am requesting..... This shouldn't be this difficult.

So, let's hope we can get this sorted out on Saturday...

BTW: This is the equipment I have, in case that makes a difference: 722, 622 and a 211 with dishes pointed to 61.5, 110 and 119. I am in Tampa, FL (33614).

Has anyone else experienced this kind of failed install?

Has to be another reason. No international come from 119/110 so the dish swap could have been done with no change in your system. The issue most likely resides with Dish systems. The tech might have not had a 1k4 on his truck and was not on the W/O so he couldn't do the job. Then the CSR could not get the dish on a W/O because the dish computer thinks that you already have the correct birds. Be prepared for another reschedule CALL Fri and confirm everything on the W/O .

This is my story:
Thursday, I call Dish and inform them of this subject. The phone support people are completely clueless, as usual! Make an appointment and have the understanding down.
First day, the installer was over booked and never called me to say that. Second day, they couldn’t find my house and were an hour away at 5pm. Third day, show up and they do not have 1000.2 with them!

Today, I call up screaming because I took three days off from work for nothing! First person I speak to, can barely speak English. Transferred a few more times until I finally get someone in the resolutions department. The person is clueless to my current setup (2 dish 500’s 110/119/61.5) let alone what I am asking for them to do (swap dish500 for 1000.2 to add 129). I repeatly say exactly what kstuart has posted. My issue is now at the hands of the people in the I.T. department. When the person from the resolutions department gets the understanding on how to write-up the work order, she will call me back.

If you want to call the person in the resolutions department and explain to her this subject please do so, Laura 720-514-8555 ex 70842

Update: I attempted my 22nd time and got right back to the resolutions department. Now, this time the Dish phone tech will only change me over to eastern arc. They would not even speak to me about a dish 1000.2 AND this person thinks 129 is part of the eastern arc!

If you want to speak to this person directly, 720-514-8555 ex. 80584

This company is full of idiots! I am about to purchase a 1000.2 dish myself so I do not have to deal with this company's crap!

I am not surprised with that, they are not tech people, so don't expect them to know all the details. Try advanced tech, not sure if they can setup the order but they could explain it to the CSR. Advanced tech sent me a new box but not sure of what other orders they are allowed to do like a new dish.

Yesterday I had the install guy come and he would not do any work. Today another install guy game and did a excellent job. He replaced some coax wires, left the Dish 500 and 61.5 on the back chimney with a new DP34 switch for the three 510's. Installed a Dish 1000.4 on the front chimney which is connected to my 612 and even ran a new coax wire with a separator for the two lines. I am very pleased after yesterdays frustration.

Which goes to show you that the individual contractor can be a great worker who does an excellent job or a real bum that you could just kick in the ass out the door. But for some reason everyone likes to blame the sat company itself when things go bad. I had a great guy from a local retailer do my upgrade to a dish 500( dish pro plus twin) years ago and he was great. I have also had a guy come out after a hurricane we had 5 years ago and I ended up helping him to do his job , because he knew less than I did. I now do all my installs and learn all I can off of this site about new dishes, lnbs, new hd etc. I am pretty good at it now and I can even install the 1000.4 sat dish and that is a hard one to get good strength on all 3 sats. I don't depend on DISH to do any of my stuff now. I own all my receivers on all three accounts I have for me , my parents, and aunt. I installed all their dishes too with no commitments to DISH.

Apparently I made a big stink between the 30 or so dish network phone reps the past week, that they pulled my work order this morning from the subcontractor and they, themselves will be showing up! I do not know if I should be happy or confused at this point.

Dishnetwork tech was here, he wouldn't swap out my dish500 with a 1000.2 because his boss told him that 61.5 and 129 feeds were not compatible. I've had it with this company. EVeryone has their own "story" and no one knows the company's technology! Plus, they were three hours late, let alone the 4th day waiting for them!

So far I have read this comment in at least 4 threads....

....Praise Jesus! Dishnetwork tech was here early this morning! Installed a third dish outside to receive 129 and its good to go! Getting better coverage then my existing 61.5 dish! Took a week, 96 telephone calls, five days off from work, four on site techs, but its done. A simple five minute job.

I'm glad you finally got some satisfaction. But, why do you think it is necessary to post all of your travails in 5 different threads. One is really enough.....

We heard you the first, second and third time. Move on.
