Anime Network

When did that start? I see even DirecTV doesn't have it as a full-time channel, only VOD (whatever VOD D* has, I have no idea.)

No Dish does not have the channel... Was just saying this might be a good channel for them to add sometime..

I didn't say they did have it, I was just wondering when it started up since nobody else really seems to have it much either.

Oh sorry yeah not for sure I think its been around for at least 2-3 years..

Why would he use his bandwidth for good channels like this when he can use some bandwidth to add another international channel and mark it up to $35 each and make $$$?

They tried to get people interested about 4 - 5 years ago but went about it rather poorly and actually died off for a while but then came back as it is now. Its a niche market really and is in its decline unfortunately here in the states, if the anime network had tried this move back in the mid late 90's then they could have had a better chance at having become an actual network. I started going to the University of Michigan Japanese Anime Society monthly showings around 95, it was a cheap ( read free ) monthly entertainment and I got to see movies that would take another 5 - 6 years to come out here on dvd such as Princess Mononoke and Laputa Castle in the sky to name a couple. After two years of going the atendance exploded and went from an average of 50 people to 300 - 400 and when we had a "Not-a-Con" it would hit 600 - 700 people over the 12 hour period in 4 large lecture halls.

Atendance started going down in the early part of 00 - 01 and I havent been since then so no idea how its doing now but its still alive though the website is a bit out of date.

There is anime on E*, and it's available to everyone, as part of the Free Public Interest Package. Check out Colours TV on channel 9396 & 9407 from 10 pm to 12 midnight, 7 nights a week. There is a block of anime provided by FUNimation Channel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .

Considering the FUNimation block, and the limited free Anime Network VOD selection on cable, I have plenty of anime to watch. Plus, of course, there is a very small bit on SciFi, Fuse, and Adult Swim.

There are also a select few local affiliates, usually on digital subchannels.

I love anime's, I would love to see it on DirecTV :)
Its a channel that I would definitely subscribe to.

I wasn't aware of that programming block on Colors, I haven't looked at that channel in a long time.

In case you haven't noticed yet, Witchblade just started running on IFC Friday nights.
