Starting February 1 (Today), the Anime Network airs on DirecTV on Channel #177. Samurai X The Movie and the controversial first two episodes of Gantz will start its initial broadcast.

No additional details for now, and Active Anime did verify this information directly from Anime Network, and we hope and expect that Anime Network will send a formal press release about this exciting news.

Active Anime would like to thank Darren F. (The Haisho) for this information.

I totally agree lou_do, but then again our former neighbors kid, (you know the type, zits, trading cards, anime, leaves the house dressed as Jonathon Riker) tried to loan me some anime "porn". Since the titles talked about earlier in the thread were deemed "controversial", maybe a bunch of teens to twenty somethings spend the 2.99, along with some tissues and hand cream!

Got ya. Missed that when I went to their site and briefly looked at it. A little different type cartoon than the basics, I see.

This is D* trying to appeal to the teenagers the same way they are with CD USA. Leave it to the D* marketing dept to appeal to a shrinkig demographic and ignore the growing segment.

Once again, D* giving us everything except what people are asking for. I have seen many posts of people asking for more HD programing, more HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, etc, channels added, like they have on cable systems and other programing, but I have not seen anyone ask for more PPV cartoons.

I wonder if we can get ahead of D*'s thinking and ask for the "24 hour Under Water Basket Weaving Channel"! Maybe then we will start to see the programming we want! ;)

If you cant give a real channel then I say dont bother!
so if DIRECTV see's no one is buying the Anime Network PPV than why should they pay for a 24hr channel?
