Ever see the directv sat-go? the little briefcase style satellite system? It has a flat antenna.

Sky made a flat antenna, other euro satellite systems had a small flat antenna, that could be painted and blend in with your house.

So how come directv never made a flat antenna for residents? I'm not picky, but I'm sure there is some snooty people that want a "eyesore" on their house.

For one, there is no HD version and since HD is the wave, there is no benefit to making a much more expensive antenna for SD use.
I would also imagine the reliability of this SD antenna is not as good as an old school 18"

Maybe in the future something will developed but I doubt it.

yeah its kinda like those older dome dishes on RV's...they cut the dish in 1/2 so you're only getting low signals. I knew someone who worked at "King-dome" here in Minnesota and the dishes were very small. On the old Dish system (with the 125 max meter) it would register upper 70's for signal. Directv was low 70's upper 60's. A dang cloud cover would almost nuke the signal.
