The good news is that the equations are well known and we have faster computers to do the calculations. They probably already know the answer to the "if" question and the money guys are still talking it over if it's necessary.

What exactly is flam? All I said was that your post made me laugh, which it did. Granted, it was more of a giggle than an actually laugh, but still...
The NASA site has listed it's perigee as around 400KM, so it should be "stable" for quite a while. If they cannot send it to decay, or at least vent it, we will have a problem for many years. But an easily tracked problem, easily avoided.
Send in the "Space Tug".

I wouldn't be surprised if they had already figured out several what-if scenarios for all the possibilities from a launchpad blow-up all the way to several hundred miles short of orbit. They probably know how far away from orbit that they would consider salvage, etc. So a lot of the answers are probably already figured out. The discussion at this point is probably either an insurance one or a "getting ducks in a row to salvage" kind of discussion.
The real bad thing I see about this bird not getting there is that it wouldn't be available as a critical replacement to a more crucial bird like Ciel 2 in the event that one didn't make it.

How does 1 get banned from other site. I haven't been but have had several post remove and rebuked twice by a "super-mod". Is 3rd time a charm or what? BTW I use firefox & have changed the order that I now lay out tabs for viewing now w/ sat's Dish hd 1st.

You gotta piss off James Long (not hard to do). Point out that he is an idiot, or that he doesn't have a clue, or question him in any way...
Basically all you have to do is just disagree with JL.. Even if he was wrong it doesn't matter.
