Can you see one of these satellites?

9529(130) - AMC [MPEG4 HD] added to Ciel-2 129W TP 31 ConUS beam (American Movie Classics) (A) (H)
9529(130) - AMC [MPEG4 HD] added to Nimiq5 72.7W TP 32 ConUS beam (American Movie Classics) (A) (H)

This is a little OT but I need to ask. I have the 200HD pack, and I've wanted to know why I have channels with numbers in the 9500 range and duplicate channels in the lower number range, like 100 to 499? I know the channels with the 00-32 are my locals, but I never understood why I have so many dups with the above channel numbers.
Thanks for any replies!

The lower channels are just map downs from the 95**s. On the lower channels, they correlate with their SD counterparts, where applicable. I always just lock out the high ones.

Thanks KAB. That's what I did when I set up my guide, but I just always wonder why they were there. Now I know!

Excessive Judder on AMC HD using auto motion plus?

I was watching the "new" HD AMC last night, and it looks great until I- for the heck of it- turned on my Samsungs LCD 120 hz "auto motion plus", and then judder appeared with a vengeance. I then set the control on maximum for judder reduction, but it was still there. Other HD channels didn't have this (well, occasionally in certain scenes it occurs, but this is natural).

Of course, when I turned it off, it was fine. Anyone else notice this on only this channel? Just curious. Easy fix, but sometimes the "auto motion plus" really is nice.

Thanks in advance

Yup, sounds like you need:
1) pure EA or WA setup... (no go for 61.5/110/119)
2) AT200 or greater with HD

I have a D300 aimed at 61.5 and a D500 aimed at 110/119.
I'm not willing to sacrifice the 61.5, as it has local Boston HD channels.

If I want AMC HD, I think I need to see the 72.7 or 129.
Not that AMC HD, alone, is worth changing out my hardware, but which dish would I replace? And with what?

You could get a 1000.2 which is 110/119/129. And use the D300 for 61.5 for locals.

If you're in the Boston area you should replace both dishes with one 1000.4 Eastern Arc dish which will get you 61.5,72.7 & 77. The only catch is that all your receivers will have to be MPEG4 (VIP receivers).

The 129 footprint is very, very weak and the LOS is very, very low from Boston.

All Swanni of TVPredictions.com does now is complain that
DirecTV hasn't added AMC HD yet but Dish Network has LOL

Wasn't AMC commercial free at one time? Years ago, I remember visiting my uncle, and I do not remember it showing commercials. When he had it, it seemed wonderful. Then, when our local cable company added it, it did not seem as great with commercials. I know that some people like the series on AMC, though. Anyway, it is nice to see another HD channel. Maybe IFC and some of the other Rainbow channels like IFC will become available in HD.

Back in the days, AMC was one of the true gems. Clean prints, uncut, no commercials, and a host who introduced each feature. If I remember correctly they claimed to "respect the movies". I remember Saturday mornings with my kids watching Betty Boop cartoons and Popular Science shorts. The closest thing now is TCM.

Once the commercials and hacked up prints came, they were dropped from my favorites list.

Well he also predicted that Dish and Direc would merge and I think its time they do to be honest... But I'd rather see them keep Dish equipment in the long run and pay their techs better wages.

It would be good if Dish and DirecTV merged, then you
would have all the movies and all the sports,
but then they would charge more money per month it's that or go back to cable

Yeah horrible amount of commercials and they edit movies so bad its not worth watching. I'd rather give this back and get ESPNUHD instead!!! This one is worthless IMO.

Obviously you don't find "Mad Men" or "Breaking Bad" appealing?

HBO, Showtime and Starz aren't valuable for their movies but for their original content.

Netflix and Blockbuster Online are way cheaper plus offer higher quality (Blu-ray or DVD).

I *never* watch Speed or Fox Business News. However, I was happy to see them added 'cause I always love new national HD. :hungry:
