Sorry, its been 5 years since I have had to suffer through dish tuning. I am moving from AMC 3 to AMC 21. I have added a few of the new AMC 21 transponders to my AMC 3.

I move the dish past 123 to 125, maximize signal with sat finder, get very strong signal, way better than AMC 3 but never get past 0 quality. I flip through various transponders and all 0 on quality. I have tried twice now, double checked everything. Each failure I have to turning back to AMC 3 but time is ticking till PBS shuts down there. What am i doing wrong?

I guess the obvious is did you reskew the LNB for AMC21?

skew on AMC21 is different than AMC3

if we take the op's name with a grain of salt he's probably just down the road from ya ;)

Wyoming1, I had the same problem when switching over. The best advise was given to me by Iceberg (well, it's what finally worked for me), and that was to find G18 (G10R) then move the dish ever so slightly to the west until you no longer get a signal on G18. Then try your AMC21 setting in the receiver and see what you get. I did find at my location that I had to lower my elevation a little bit which surprised me as 2 deg. doesn't seem like much of a move from G18.

Hope that helps.

What is a good TP to look for on G18? TP details?

This one just about pegs my Q meter:

KTWO Casper, WY (ABC)
12103 V 2222
4130 4131 4130

After you find this one, it's just a "fine" nudge to the west to get 125W.

It took me a bag of popcorn and a couple of trys before I settled onto AMC21.

I persoanlly wouldnt use KTWO as some receivers it takes a while ot lock on that transponder. My Pansat 1500 takes a good 5 seconds when I select that channel to lock the signal

12114 V 4340 is a strong one and KBS World is another one (12078 V symbol rate escapes me right now but check thelist at the top)

Is it possible your LNB skew is 90 degrees off? that way the satellite finder would recognize a strong signal, but your transponders wouldn't lock. Try swapping V to H on your transponders.
