AMC-15 Now at 105 W

Yes, AMC-15 is finally at 105 W according to LyngSat. I look forward to folks posting their new signal strength numbers in the next few days. It would also be interesting to see how many channels Dish loads on each TP since these are wide frequency band TPs and what error correction rate they use.

When did that satellite launch and how long did it take to get to it's assigned space? I seem to remember that one launching like last Fall.

Gotta tell ya, I can't wait for it to be on line. I get my locals off of it. I will post as soon as I see an improvement in signal. Thanks for the heads up. It will probably take a lot more than a few days though.

P.Smith.. Did you try to repoint / tweak it somewhat to get somewhat higher reading? (as JL did)

I don't need to repoint my dish, it's secured and stay sturdy for last 7 years.
I did check it last time before post my numbers using spectrum analyzer while pressing top-down-right-left sides of the dish - no changes.
I'll try to find time this weekend for new measure.

ya.. i hear you.. interesting..

The reason i suggested this though - cuz some people.. in some threads are saying that some tweaking is needed (or something like that) to get better signal after this AMC-15 became active there..

But seemed kinda strange to me..
Ya.. Interesting to hear if this weekend you come up with some new measure..

My dish is sturdy also there at 105.. ( or so i think and hope - cuz i am not an installer ) .. good installer did the job ( or so i think and hope anyhow )

Not sure why someone would have a dish locked down to 105 five and a half years before E* put content there - what were you looking at before?

I was expecting that the numbers would magically improve. Perhaps they will once AMC-2 vacates the slot (if they move AMC-15 to it's old position). Perhaps I'll have to change my dish again if they do this. But on FSS dishes the margin of error is very small ... the satellite being 0.2 degrees over can make a difference.

All I can say for sure is that "before" the best signal I could get out of 105 was 50's and 60's and now I'm in the 60's and 70's with just a hack repointing. Some did see the magic increase without reaiming - so something changed. AMC-15 *HAS* arrived and is being put to good use.

Before AMC 15 I was lucky to get 55 on 105 satellite; now I get 75, without doing anything as far as tweaking my Super Dish.
