I’m not aware of any unlimited Verizon hotspot plans. Is this an old grandfathered plan? Any plan Verizon currently sells is unlimited on the device itself. Hotspot and “phone as a modem” has a data cap then throttling. There are unofficial methods to get around this, of course, but there is zero chance of outright buying a Verizon unlimited hotspot plan unless it’s Hum for RV. And even that shuts off after the vehicle is inactive, so I’m told

My AT&T hotspot is on their "Connected Car" unlimited 4G/LTE plan at $22.01/mo. That plan is no longer offered, but I'm grandfathered in. My two Verizon hotspots are "graymarket" flashed devices that have unlimited 3G for $5/month. Those serve as a backup in case we're in a location with a poor AT&T cell signal. That covers our motorhome Internet services. At our Adirondack vacation cottage where we have a second Hopper w/Sling, we have an unlimited data "seniors" 30 GB cable plan from Spectrum at $14.99/mo. That makes our total per month Internet costs including all taxes and fees exactly $47 with unlimited data all around.

I should add that none of our plans are "throttled", although the Connected Car plan is subject to "deprioritization" after the first 22GB where our speeds can be lowered during busy periods on congested towers. So far, if that's happened, we haven't noticed it.

I’ve had a couple of those before, too. The issue is that Verizon is starting to refarm their 3G CDMA spectrum for LTE. End of life for 3G is 2022, if memory serves. After that, 3G and CDMA are history when it comes to Verizon. End of life for 1xRTT CDMA is in 2019.

Those unofficial ways are about non-existent on VZW anymore, since they’ve locked down bootloaders. Makes me hate being with VZW anymore, but it’s the best carrier for my job

Yes. The $5 hotspots are either LG Optimus Zone 2 prepaid smartphones or Mifi Jetpacks that have been “flashed” to make Verizon think they are feature/flip phones.

I'm not well versed in all the nuances of this "unlimited data" stuff.

For a few weeks I'm on VZW Beyond Unlimited using a U620L usb modem to
connect my PC to Internet. Apparently VZW considers this a hotspot and my
data usage is accumulating as Hotspot data even though I'm not using it as
a Hotspot.

Can I expect my Internet 4G LTE connection to get throttled to 3G when my
Hotspot usage hits 15GB?

Yep, I'm well aware that VZW is repurposing their 3G towers for 4/5G, but at $5/mo, we'll hang onto the reflashed hotspots as long as they prove useful. Our AT&T hotspot gets the most use by far anyway.

There doesn’t appear to be a way to make a favorites list in the guide with DishAnywhere in either the app or with the Firestick...

The favorites I set in DishAnywhere on my PC are also selected in the Android DishAnywhere app on my phone when I switch to "Favorites". I don't see that option on the FireTVstick version though.

That's what we have, except we also added their digital phone service to go with it. The combined cost of internet and phone from Spectrum is still significantly less than what we had been paying Century Link for landline service alone with no internet.

For phone service at our cottage, we use an ObiHai analog telephone adapter (ATA) for VOIP phone service through Phone Power. For ObiHai owners, the PhonePower cost is only $35/year with all of the usual calling features. We also use PhonePower's app for VOIP calling from our cell phones.

When you're at home, Dish Anywhere streams over your LAN locally. It doesn't go out to the internet.

Or an issue with a public router along the way. Given how complex the Internet is, I’m surprised anything works on it at all! The things we all take for granted.
