Am I unconfused yet ?

Well, I'm a EE so I should know what I'm doing but boy these Dish documents,
not to mention their web site make my head spin. If possible I'd like folk here
to validate my upgrade plan:

Currently have dish 500 and one legacy receiver.

Just acquired a HD panel which is in a building next to the home.

I am planning to get a Dish 1000 and mount it on that building.
Deploy an 811 in that building to drive the panel.
Use existing RG-6 I have that runs between the buildings (75' or so)
to feed a 625 that will be used to drive a SD rear projector that
currently has the legacy receiver, and a string of other SD tvs
around the house via existing coax.

Questions: where can I buy all this stuff ? (Dish seems to have
some bizzaro issues with actually _selling_ equipment : some gear
is available, some is not, strange strange...).

Do I need a switch ? I've read the Dish 1000 install guide and I
think the answer might be 'no', but it's not 100% clear. I think I can
run one RG-6 feed from the dish assembly to the 811, and a second
to the 625 in the house (< 200').

I'm in south west montana.
Local channels do not exist. Currently we have east and west coast
locals (after fighting a few times with customer reps when they randomly
drop a channel here and there). Ideally I'd like to get some HD local
service from one of the coasts. Any prospect of achieving that ?
If so what are the magic words to use when talking to the CSR ?

I guess I'm confused again. I just discovered that the local stations
from the nearest market (125 miles away), which Dish says we
qualify for are on the 148 bird. I believe I need 110 & 119 for
regular programming, and 129 for the new HD channels. So do
I need to receive from four orbital locations ?

You should call Dish and order the local channels. They are required by law to install the 2nd dish for FREE.

You might have your extra locals on the 129 sat as well as the 148 sat. The extra Houston locals are on both . You might only need the Dish 1000.

Thanks. Where I live it's hard to get _anyone_ to come and install
anything, law or no law ! I'd really rather do the work myself and
know when it'll get done.

So I checked and the locals are only on 148. So any pointers on
how I can receive from four orbital locations ?

Ok, I think I can answer my own question now.
It seems that with a Dish 1000 and a Dish 300 and a 44 switch I can
achieve what I want. Like this:

Is that the best way to do it ?

That would be the way to go for 4 sat locations.
