AM antenna question

We have an Onkyo receiver for our home theatre. I have a coax cable being split from our TV antenna to feed our FM tuner. Is there any way to also have our TV antenna do the same for AM?

what you want is an am loop antenna.

that's about all you need for am reception.

Where we live we are a good 50 miles away from a city with radio stations. I know AM carries well especially at night. I just wasn't sure if I could use our existing TV antenna for AM.

I dont think that will work.

I've seen good AM antennas online and at Rat Shack but they're like 30-40 bucks

Depending on the antenna input on your radio I've just used some 20 gauge wire to make it work

The AM antenna input on our receiver is a twin wire input like speaker wire.

I would just try a piece of wire and see what happens. You'd be amazed at what you can get with a simple wire
