I have a slimline 5 LNB multi-sat direct tv dish. I travel in a R.V. so I get to align the dish alot. Been using the receiver and 101 to get alignment but not getting all the channels especially HD. After reading some posts, it appears that I need more equipment to properly align the unit. It appears that a ASL-1 and some kind of 18 volt meter is needed. Could somone please give me some direction?

You need to go further in your alignment to catch all the sats and HD programming.

Start with 101 - really nail the AZ & EL on 101. Switch to 119 and adjust the tilt only to peak 119. Go back and do any fine tuning on 101 (you are looking for the center of the signal peak). That will bring in all the sats.

Make sure you have the BBC attached to the box.

Since you align on 101 regularly, the extra steps involved to tilt to 119 should only take you a few more minutes.

As always, make sure the top of your mast is dead level - much more critical on the Slimline than on other older dishes. Enjoy.

The ASL is only used with a SWM LNB, so you don't need that. After doing the 101 and 119 initial alignment you should use the dither method to make sure you are at the center of the 101 adjustment so 99 and 103 will come in. You can do a final adjustment using 99 or 103, if desired.
