Alex Rodriguez tests positive for steroids and now ADMITS it

He looks in great shape in this photo, but I wouldn't exactly call him Bunyon-esque.

And I used to think Reggie was big, when I was a kid!

He's dwarfed by McGwire and Canseco!!

A-Rod's Contract Stands, Steroids Or Not

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [February 7 at 10:05am CST]
According to Selena Roberts and David Epstein of Sports Illustrated, "Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two anabolic steroids" in 2003. Rodriguez did not comment, but Roberts and Epstein say they confirmed his alleged steroid use with four independent sources. Rodriguez was reportedly one of 104 players to test positive for PEDs in 2003.
However, steroid use doesn't impact A-Rod's contract.
"Two sources familiar with Rodriguez's contract told SI there is no language about steroids in the contract that would put Rodriguez at risk of losing money."

Anyone during the early 2000's with over inflated numbers was probably using steroids. The records during that time should come with a disclaimer that either steroids and or weightlifting resulted in the inflation of these records. As far as the Michael Phelps thing goes, people are going to look for anything they could to stop him from dominating his events in the Olympics again. They got what they wanted. Barry bonds will probably get something on the high end of sentence possibilities, because the government obviously wants to make an example of him.
I wonder who the other 103 are?

BTW, didn't Canseco mention A-Rod in his book? A-Rod was always glossed over on this topic, but it is looking like everything Canseco said has been the truth.

I don't think he was using steroids in Seattle. I'm sure a lot of people will be shocked out here too if it's true. I always thought he was pure natural talent even if his ego didn't fit his skull.

He probably was clean when he started. However, trying to hit home runs in Safeco field isn't an eay task. He wanted certain career numbers and was willing to do anything to get them.

I agree with most of you here. it doesn't really shock me but at the same time i never thought i would hear that A Fraud took steroids. Personally I don't like the guy and until he proves he can win in the post season and a world series I'm with torre calling him a fraud.

As a die hards Mets fan, I cannot wait to see the reaction at Yankees stadium. They literally now see that they have purchased a player with inflated numbers in 2003/4 and why he has yet to produce in those key moments that they have been waiting for . . . let him have it Yank fans . . . every time he strikes out with 2 outs and bases loaded . . . every time he miffs and grounder . . . and let the boos rain down when he breaks the homerun record !!!!!!!!

Why is this a big deal?

1. Nobody testing positive should surprise anyone anymore.

2. Salsa knows big leaguers, and says steroids don't help you hit home runs anyway. ;)

GOD oh might.....I said it does NOT Make you a better ball player.

You are the typical woman....instead of just .....never mind. I will just say this, you and I were discussing something once and without knowing me, you said something to the effect of "now I know why I am not married"....well believe, now I know why you are not married....

Back to the subject at hand....Am I surprised? NO.....am I disappointed? YES! The question is....HOW is he gonna handled it? Will he take the Barry Bonds route and deny, deny, deny.....or will he take the Giambi route and at least admit to it...

We all know he did the book for the money but ironic isn't it? EVERYONE questioned his credibility...and in the end, it seems like he is the closest to telling the truth from ALL of them. :(

yeah if I were him I would just admit it and avoid a fiasco like what clemmens is going through. you don't want your whole private life to be dug through because of something like this. he already said today that he wasn't saying anything."ask the union" he said. we'll see.

I SUSPECT....I repeat, SUSPECT it might have started in 1999 when he had that injury that he missed a quarter of the season.
