T. Hunt a gold glove i think not he struggled the first half of year got injured missed measurable time then finish year on a tear.
But he cost the Twins the series in Oaktown with his botched diving catch
i dont know how he won and it shall remain a mystery to me
no the less congrats torii hunter, you didnt deserve it, you know it

Who do you think deserved american league gold glove outfield only?
my pick Gary Mathews Jr.

im a huge twins fan,but feel other outfielders were cheated out of a gold glove

Hunter probably won on Name alone,
How about Vernon Wells (Tor) or Mark Kotsay (Oak) I was pretty impressed with what I saw of Kotsay in the playoffs. Defensivly...

Name plays a HUGE part. To this day, I still believe that in the final years of his career, Ozzie Smith won the Gold Glove at shortstop over Barry Larkin ONLY because of his name. Barry had more range and was more consistent...but because Ozzie made a catch or 2 that made the highlights....it was his award automatically. Now don't get me wrong, to me, Ozzie is one of the greatest shortstops of all time. But when Barry was in his prime, only a couple was as consistent and NO ONE was better.

salsadancer,
I agree 100 % with this post, never felt that Larkin got his due.
I also feel this way about Cal Ripken and Alan Trammell when Tram was in his prime.

But with Ripken, about 3 years into his streak, his offense started suffering. I Think that was a useless streak in my opinion. I mean if you were NOT in immaculate shape...you were BOUND for injury. I still think the season is too long. I think they should drop it to 154 games if not 150.

How about 144 games, this way you eliminate 18 games, but even at that figure you only chop off about 2-3 weeks, we are playing into the middle of October and the end of winter in april, lets start April 15th and end Sept. 15th and then start the playoffs, if they went back to the way the playoffs use to be (No Wild Card) that would shorten the playoffs be another week. I really like the WC but it does push them further into the end of October.
If you looked at the dates I mentioned, that would cut out about a month worth of games, roughly 25 games ... what do you all think.
Realistically this will never happen due to the loss of money per date.

I agree with you 100% too. Although being a HUGE Reds fan I am a little bias.:D

Did you play ball at FSU then ?

Well...sort of...there was a guy named Jody Reed(Red Sox fans should know who he is) that kept me on the bench quite a bit. I started a handful of games in my 2 years on the team. But had a great college experience that I will never forget and got my education......but DAMN, would I have loved to play professional baseball......:(

Ditto Derek Jeter over Alex Gonzales.

Jeter is a great player and IMHO deserving of the MVP this year. But watching Gonzo man the field this year was something else, he's really slick.

IF you are talking about the Alex Gonzales from the Red Sox....yeah, we had him down here in Miami....and he IS the best glove in BOTH leagues....PERIOD!

i AGREE TOO, AND IM FROM ST LOUIS. BUT I WILL DISSAGREE WHEN YOU SAY THAT THE WIZZARD IS ONE OF THE BEST SS OF ALL TIME. WHEN WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE GLOVE ( NOT HITTING) WHO WOULD YOU SAY IS BETTER???

HE WAS UNBELIVABEL!!!!!
AND SALSA, DRAFTED BY THE PROS!!!!!!!!! CONGARD TO YOU. WHAT DID YOU PLAY, WHERE YOU FROM??? I ENVY YOU!!!

THE ONLY DRAFT I GOT FROM THE PROS WAS HOW FAST THEY PASSED ME BY! LOL

I thought Ozzie was a better shortstop in San Diego than in St. Louis. I never signed....:( I went to school like a good boy and got my education. Like I said, didn't play much, there was some very good infielders in front of me that went on to play in the majors...but I was happy with my 40-50 ABs in the season. I would have NEVER thought I would get drafted OR get a full ride(turned out to be 1/2 of one...:( ) form a major university...so I felt WAY beyond blessed. I have a son now so I can live vicariously through him...eventhough he is only 16 months...LOL
I want him to be a switch hitting catcher...but I don't think I am asking TOO much am I? :D ;)
