King,
Don't worry, Below will be back up soon I feel, he's just in a numbers game at the moment.
I really expected Below to go to the pen IF Smyly got the 5th spot, but Marte made quite an impression as well this spring.
Meanwhile I will enjoy watching these guys down here in Toledo !
This is something different, for many years, the Tigers would skip Toledo with a lot of the guys that got sent down or brought up.
While we've had plenty of them thru Toledo, alot of them have also been missed.
Should be a fun year down here as well, they will have Oliver, Below and many others all pitching and playing to get to Detroit ... Only problem is once they get hot, they get pulled out of Toledo and there went your momentum.
That said, thats part of being the AAA team.
Yeah I think he will get a chance at the big leagues again this year too.
Minor league games are a lot of fun. I went to quite a few Great Lakes Loons (low A Dodgers affiliate) games when I was in college at Central Michigan. The Park was only about a 15 minute drive from my apartment. I got a chance to see last season's NL Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw pitch very early in his career. I have never gotten a chance to see a Mudhens game but maybe I will make the short trip to see one of Below's starts this summer.
A couple of days after being sent to Toledo Duane Below has been called back up to the Tigers bullpen!
Pitching duel going on in Detroit. Verlander is looking sharp early, but we've left some men on base. Anyone at the game right now? Claude...I just know you're sitting there trying to stay warm.
Yep. I was at the game. Despite the cold weather I still got a little bit of a sun burn on my face. It was well worth it to be part of the opening day party! They also got a really impressive new scoreboard video screen. I will also be at Sunday's game with much better seats...
It's nice to get the win in extra innings, but you hate to see Valverde blow Verlander's Jim Dandy 2-hit shutout through 8-innings.
It was the Tiger's first walk-out Opening Day win since Hall-of Famer Harry Heilman did it in 1921. Stiil, I would have liked to have seen Verlander get the Win. I just hope we don't see Valderde start a trend with his 1st blown save since 2010. He certainly kept us "on the edge of our seats" last year.
Is this weekend games sold out for the Tigers / Red Sox ?
